Not sure the big deal, she was smoked by a ball. We've seen MLB pitchers get hit by a ball and feature a cracked orbital bone and brain bleeds.
Only reason it is a story is she is the first female manager on any level so more scrutiny but this isn't a big deal.

What manager have you seen get hit in the face with a ball? If you have ever seen it, was it their first week as a manager?

I hit our first base coach with a liner one time and broke his jaw. I'm sure I'm not the only one. But that was in little league.
