My buddy hit a liner down the 3rd base line that hit an umpire in the nuts. Dude's face went blue and I think he only has one testicle now.

This is the SECOND time she's been hit with a baseball. Nice reflexes.

Rachel Balkovec receives mercy ovation after getting hit IN THE LEG

Interview in the booth afterward:

Balkovic:

"Let's be honest, I think I came on record saying I'M THE (pauses for dramatic effect)... FIRST... WOMAN...to be smoked in the (?) game."

Booth: (forced yuks)

I think we oughta have a running pool as to how many times the ball "finds" Balkovic.

The Under / Over at this point is 8.

Larry Bowa wears a helmet on the field because he was smoked in the head a couple years ago as a 1B coach. We've also seen plenty of balls go into the dugout and hit players and staff in the past.

Have you ever watched a baseball game?

Man or woman I'm putting you on blast for "sitting out" a game with a black eye when your job consists of sitting on a wooden bench and pointing at people.

Didn't they mandate base coaches had to wear helmets? Or is that just in the minors?

Definitely in the minors.

ETA: And in the majors starting in 2008. Although the ball hit him in the neck and crushed an artery supplying blood to his brain, so ironically a helmet wouldn't have helped.

What is the point of this charade? Are they trying to prove that managers aren't necessary in pro baseball?

Was it the Rays who's GM/Stats guy would basically call the manager to say which pitcher he wanted next?
