Isn't that far fetched. I have New Orleans going 8-8, 9-7 at best.

9-7 at best? That is the best that you think they could possibly do this season? Want to give your reasons?

Matt Damon better have a role in the movie.

-subpar improvement to the defensive unit [I know I'll get the "we don't need the greatest defense ever" comment"]
-I don't see the run offense getting any better. Sproles is a huge weapon out of the backfield. But, Thomas and especially Ingram leave much to be desired.
-I'm interested in who steps up into the D.Henderson mold on offense.

The defensive line will be very good. Kenny Vaccaro plays fast and mean, he attacks. The defense desperately needed a guy like him. They added Kennan Lewis who led the league in pass deflections. My one concern is the OLB spot, but there is definitely a lot of potential there with Galette and Wilson, who is freakishly athletic.
The biggest improvement made is the scheme. They do not have the best players, and they didn't have that from 09-11, when they went 37-11. They will have an aggressive defense, which will give up yards, but they will force turnovers. They certainly don't need a great defense, but it will not be as bad as last year. Spagnoula's scheme was absolutely terrible, and did not fit the personnel.

The reason it looked so shitty last year was the awful play-calling. Ingram in meant a guaranteed run. In 2011 they had one of the top rushing attacks in the league, and that had a lot to do with having a versatile group of backs, and Payton knowing how to using them. They also decided they will switch the run scheme up this year, because Payton realizes the importance of it. They decided to go with he zone run scheme, which is what Houston and Seattle use. I see that helping out some.

Agree with Ingram, but Thomas? He's the best back on the team. PFF graded out Thomas as a top 5 running back over the last 5 years. LINK He's limited in carries because of the way they run the offense. I also wouldn't take any other back over him when it comes to the screen game.

They used Morgan as the Henderson style player last season, which is mainly a decoy. Get a fast guy to stretch the field, run the 9 route, and open up plays for possession receivers. I was worried when I saw Morgan would be out this year, but from what I have seen out of Kenny Stills and Nick Toon, I no longer am. They are both fast, and more versatile than Morgan, and more talented than Henderson. Henderson was a great blocker though, not quite sure if they will be up there.

Football Outsiders 2012 RB rankings
Even last year, when our ground game struggled, Thomas graded well both in PFF's system (mentioned above) and in FO's two methods of grading performance.
