Ryan is only 36, which is not ancient in NGL QB terms any longer. He has at least 2-3 years of very productive years left in him.

Draft the generational talent.

Don’t be dumb.

Then next year or year after draft the Qb of the future.

It’s not like ATL is a QB away from a Super Bowl this year.

Draft the mismatch and freak at 4.

Thanks for the advice, I'm sure their front office will come by and take it under advisement.

Will they ever be in position to draft a QB again before Ryan retires?

Meh. They are in a no win situation. Ryan is slowly declining so they need the QB solution. They are not going to draft much higher then 4. Get the QB but they’d be taking 4th QB off board.

Who knows if they'll even draft this high next year. You don't get top 5 picks often unless you are trash, they should use this and get their QB of the future now because who knows, they might not get a chance like this for a while.

That’s the buzz, Pitts at #4. Playmaker and blocker for years and years.

There are quarterbacks available every single season. Most of the great ones are available after the first 5 picks so yes they will be.

Like who? Jones, Lance, or Fields? Those are all toss ups.

Next year's crop of QBs isn't looking great right now, maybe Bryce Young for the 2023 draft.

I agree Atlanta needs work in lots of areas, but even at age 36, if you can get a young potential star QB I’d do it. Even if the guy sits for a year behind Ryan. Ryan probably does have 2-3 more years of solid play, I agree

I’ll never be a GM but unless you’re 1000% sold on a QB, top 5 picks IMO are reserved for plug and play premium positions: QB, OT, OLB/Edge or CB. Positions that aren’t dependent on another for performance.

TE or WR Top 5, you best be sure they’re Calvin Johnson.

Pitts is a Calvin Johnson/Travis Kelce type of talent

I agree, maybe not an edge guy top 5. I know pass rushers are important but I’m going QB, CB, OT in that order. CBs are a premium it seems, have a good shutdown one can change up your entire defense game planning. Unless there’s a once in a lifetime OLB I’d have a hard time picking one in top 5.

I said edge but I’m meaning strictly OLB, a DE that’s elite pass rushing and run stopping I can see grabbing. Many of those elite edge rushers aren’t all that good at stopping the run or dropping in coverage if asked to

Unless they get a good haul, I agree, this is as consensus a pick as I've ever considered

There is quite a difference between being #4 and being where I'm sure the Falcons think they can be with a veteran QB and improved roster (which is somewhere in the 20's). There aren't a lot of great QB's available in the 20's.

That said, I wouldn't take a QB at 4 if I'm Atlanta because I just don't know if any of the guys available there are really even close to "sure things". Yes, Fields, Lance and/or Jones may turn out to be great players. But I don't know if I had a pro-bowl level QB already on my roster that I'd be convinced ANY of those guys would be better than what I'm expecting to have for the next 2, 3, 4 years.

Ultimately, I think a new GM and HC are in "win now" mode with Ryan at QB. They probably kicked the tires on QBs and are likely REALLY hoping someone in the top 10 (Denver, Carolina) wants to make a trade with them.

I think the first 4 picks are QBs. But I don't think Atlanta is one of those first 4

Just because he has the talent doesn't mean that Atlanta's capable of doing much with it.

Vernon Davis, for example, was considered a can't miss at TE who was worth it at 6 overall.

Good player but he didn't rise to what he was projected to in part because San Francisco was such a clusterfrick at that time that they didn't know what to do with him.
