Fire a coach. Hire a guy that had the same position at the same time under fired coach's predecessor. Fire that coach. Hire the QB coach of the two coaches you fired as HC. Give him a $15 million buyout

Yeah but it’s not like a hal mumme coaching tree where every single disciple is running the same, or some variation of the air raid offense.
There’s literally nothing in common between Pete Carroll and clay Helton. Pete was a defensive guy, Helton is a qb coach/ offensive coordinator.
I don’t know a single usc fan that considers Helton part of the Carroll lineage.

I liked Orgeron at USC. It seemed like he was a good fit. Great recruiter, good motivator....just needed the right staff around him. I remember he beat us (Stanford) that year, and they weren't supposed to.
USC lucked out with Pete, but besides that, they've made bad coaching choices for decades.

Spot on. Coach O's tenure at SC was fun. Everyone loved him. The band even had their own song for him. If he had beaten ND and ucla in that season where we upset Stanford, he'd still be the coach IMHO.
Helton will almost surely be fired after the ND game. You don't lose to ucla and ND and have a losing record at USC and remain the head coach.
There are some rumors that Helton got a longer leash than most would have because SC has bigger fincancial worries than hiring a new football coach.
A perverted gynecologist molested female students and USC is tied up in litigation. The school will likely be paying hundreds of millions of dollars to the victims.
