thats a weak arguement when even the conference champs are getting like 3-4 weeks off. One team getting 3 weeks and one team getting 4 weeks isn't a huge difference

Uh yes it is.

Playing an extra game carries more risk of injury and fatigue and that requires more time training and an extra week and that's less precious time practicing and game planning, especially if something really bad happens.

Why do you think NFL teams fight so hard for first round byes?

The advantage is not so much an extra week of rest. It’s that you don’t play a top 5-10 opponent that can knock you out of consideration and there is no risk of injury. That’s a considerable advantage. At some point the No. 1 team could strategically lose on purpose. If you go to an 8 team playoff, it’s even more likely. And if that is the system, you couldn’t blame them.

Big Ten east.

Who did they play in the big 10 championship game?

Nobody because they were on the wrong end of a tiebreaker.

Oh, so you're an ole miss fan.

Nope.

Explain how Ohio st can claim to be "co-champions" last year but Alabama can't claim that this year.

Because they earned a share of the division title and Bama didn't.

End of story.

Making Clemson not even a viable football team didn't prove that Alabama deserved to be in a playoff of the best 4 teams in the country?

Did tonight's game transform their dogshit regular season resume?

So the big 10 sent penn st as the east representative to their championship game by mistake?

Oh I see. So they weren't actually division champions.

Nope.

Yep. No other fanbase tries to pass offbeing a "co-champion" as being a champion the way you are.

Ohio st: 7-1 conference record, 5-1 division record, lost tiebreaker by virtue of head to head record against another team in their division.

Alabama: 7-1 conference record, 5-1 division record, lost tiebreaker by virtue of head to head record against another team in their division.

Explain how 1 team is a division champion and the other isn't.

Props to you for at least admitting that. But the outrage over Ohio st making it last year is not even a blip on the radar compared to the continuous ongoing melt of Alabama making it this year.

No one is saying that Alabama isn't a top 4 team. Just that teams that can't win their own division (and therefore gets a bye week when everyone else is playing in a conference title game) does not deserve a playoff bid.

So 2011 Alabama wouldn't make the four team playoff if it existed back then. Sounds like a great system.

I think they belonged and I hate Bama.

Despise them.

But, the model is to put the 4 best teams in America in the top 4. It is obvious they did so.

The one beef anyone can have is UCF. The fact they beat a good Auburn team and scored the amount of points they did while playing inspired defense proves they were worthy of being in the top 4.

There is a legitimate beef to say UCF deserved to be in over Bama after seeing that performance today. Problem is that they played a shitty schedule and there was no real way of knowing if they were worthy until after the game today.

The 11-1 one with the one loss to a top 10 team?

Nah.

That thing looks the same.

bama is one of the best teams in the country

still dont think they earned the right to play tonight based on their regular season.

UCF was way more deserving

They must do something to account for teams like UCF.

It is truly a robbery that the team I saw today beat Auburn is undefeated and has no claim to a championship.

I agree.

UCF should have had a chance to win it all.

so given the current set up

if you think bama deserved to be in as well.

who do you leave out to give UCF that chance?

With the current setup I'm not sure how I'd get UCF in. Maybe over Alabama? I think Alabama is a top 4 team so that would suck.

In the current setup UCF can't be in, IMO. Not their fault, but the schedule just isn't there.

How many teams in the P5 go undefeated with their schedule? 5? 15?

Sad that people actually thought OSU belonged. What was their score last year 31-0? Damn 24-6..... how does Bama's nuts taste?
