Different year same story...Change the narrative to whatever fits some of y'all's argument. If anyone thinks UCF, Wisconsin, or anyone else could've hung in against Bama last night ...Much less beat them, then I feel sorry for u. They played the schedule that was in front of them, not their fault how their opponents played throughout the course of the year. Wisconsin had a joke schedule as well . It's funny how a team is good but once Bama beats them all of a sudden it's " that team was trash, yada yada.they cared all year because excellence is expected, but had the worse run of injuries since Saban has been there. The committee trusted that a fully healthy Bama team wouldn't shite the bed and they didn't. The whole 8 team format kinda screams "let's give everyone a trophy" to me .

At some point the No. 1 team could strategically lose on purpose. If you go to an 8 team playoff, it’s even more likely. And if that is the system, you couldn’t blame them.

Why wouldn't they? Bama in 2011 out of field of 2 proved it could be done...they have only since perfected the art of avoiding unnecessary games.

Sorry, but you shouldn't get a free pass because of injuries. Every team has injuries, if those injuries cause you to lose you shouldn't get a mulligan.

And the only reason Bama was able to be healthy is because they got an extra bye week and got to avoid a tough conference championship.

Alabama was put in the playoffs because of name only.

It never changes...It's funny how none of bama's accomplishments are ever legit . The truth is they made alot of people look like idiots last night . I guess now Clemson was overrated huh?

Yes, the loss to Syracuse was a good tell. As I've said before on here, put Wisonsin, Ohio State or UCF against Clemson and they probably win.

Sadly Wisconsin had to play a conference title game while Bama was resting and UCF was eliminated before the season started so we never got that chance.

Unfortunate that Wisconsin was punished for actually earning a division title.

You talk about Bama's accomplishments but what did they accomplish. They didn't win their division, didn't win their conference and lost their game against Auburn (and got a free pass).

I hate Bama but this year, there wasn’t any other team that should’ve gotten in over them. Just the way it is. Bama did not deserve the 2011 title shot but did this year.

Funny, I'd say the same about putting Bama in...with no trophies.

Alabama was favored to win the game.

plus I don't recall anyone lining up to proclaim Clemson the winner on this board before hand.

big difference if someone posts a prediction of who they want to win instead of the other team who they'd rather see lose.

welcome to the internet

Weirdest, most odd thing about the whole situation...

When Bama was picked, nearly everyone was cool with it. They were glad Ohio State was left out.

Now...?

Wisconsin - actually won their division and only loss was in a conference title game against a top 10 opponent by 6 points. Very similiar strength of schedule to Alabama. Got punished for playing in conference title game while Bama was resting.

Ohio State - bad loss against Iowa but did win a conference championship.

Central Florida - Undefeated.

Why does Alabama deserve a free pass when the same courtesy isn't given to other teams.

This is inaccurate; there were a lot of people on this board pissed off.

I distinctly remember posting in a few of the multiple threads started about it.

Yep. That's what makes this statement so funny:

The committee trusted that a fully healthy Bama team wouldn't shite the bed and they didn't.

Of course they were healthy. They had an entire offseason to get there.

And we still say it.

Bama fans will never have a good answer to the unfair advantage of having an extra week of rest while avoid the conference title game.

The precedent had already been set.

From their very inception, CCGs have been risky. Nobody would have batted an eye if 12-0 Bama lost to Florida in the ‘92 SECCG. They were literally the only game that day. Conference championships can make or break a playoff resume. Teams like TCU, Georgia, Ohio State, and Miami were all given the privilege to improve their resume’s when Bama was not. None of teams would have had a shot without those games and Georgia reaped the benefit. It’s really not a hard concept
