Everybody saying Bama didn't belong

To me it was never a matter of "belonging" it was a matter of "deserving". I said it before the games were played, that I would rather have teams I know can and have beaten other good teams in the game than teams with better records.

Before last night, Bama did not have a good win, and their best win got worse earlier in the day yesterday. They had not proven they were capable of beating a good team. They absolutely proved it last night, but to say "now we know they were good the whole time" is ex post facto reasoning and should not be used.

Of course they belong among the elites of college football, but I don't think they proved it during their 12 game season this year.

As usual, they came up big when they got the opportunity, and I absolutely acknowledge that

They still didn’t belong after failing to win biggest game and benefitting from it

You serious Clark? A week for a team trying to get healthy is a hell of a long time

It didn’t help OSU last year because Clemson throttled them 31-0 in the semi.

Hope you enjoyed that dick down Saban put on Dabo and Clemson

I don't use hindsight as the basis for arguments nor do I place improper weight on it to make points because what if UCF or Ohio State was selected and did the same thing to Clemson? We'd be making the same argument for them in that case, does Alabama's performance validate the committee's selection? To a degree, yes but ON 12/3/17 when the final playoff rankings were released that established the final 4 matchups, I disagreed and maintain that position with respect to that particular period. Gotta give credit when credit is due, Bama straight up shut them fools down which I did not think they would do.

I believe they would have done the same thing to OSU last night as well... Or Wisky or anyone else not named OU or UGA....

They didn’t deserve to be in. It isn’t that they never had the potential. They did. But they didn’t come close to their potential until last night. They shouldn’t have gotten in just on the fact that had they cared enough they could have been great all year.

If they were this great during the 2017 FBS season, they would've dominated LSU and Mississippi State to the point of obliteration and wouldn't have gotten thrashed against Auburn to the extent they did. As of 12/3/17, the 2017 Alabama football team was not one of the four best teams in America: they were vulnerable defensively, they had injuries, and played one of the weakest schedules maybe in college football history, of which they were clear beneficiaries. To that point, they lost their only viably toughest matchup(Auburn), what evidence existed that proved they were one of the four best teams then?

When OSU made the CFP last year, PSU fans didn't melt as much as LSU fans have melted over Bama getting in.

Some of you clowns need to buy a vowel or a clue.

Do any lsu fans here really think that a one loss non conference champion LSU wouldn’t have gotten in over Ohio state this year? Come on guys ....

You obviously didn't go to any Penn State message boards last year. The anger over that was very strong.

2 years in a row the selection committee has shown that regular season games don't matter if you are a "major" brand. It is a horrible precedent to set and invalidates the conference championship games (which hurt teams more than help them now)

They still don’t belong. It is irrelevant that after a 6 week layoff they won a game.

beat LSU in a lackluster performance. Squeaked out a win against the mighty Mississippi State, steamrolled a middle school team. Lost to Auburn in a travesty. Sat at home while that Auburn team got arse whipped by GA. Was given the #1 team in America and made them look like shite. Nope, we didn't belong in the top 4. But holy frick Bama is in the Nat'l championship once again because they are clearly not a top 4 team in the country

Both Penn State fans that post here were relatively calm.

Ohio State actually won their division, at least co-champions and that's something Bama can't claim.

SEC - West
CONF OVERALL
Auburn 7-1 10-4
Alabama 7-1 12-1

Did you say co-champions?
