And then all those cable companies will just start charging more for your internet packages.

Hell they are already putting in bandwidth caps.

They are going to make their money somehow.

not sure why this is so hard for some to understand or accept.

the major cable companies responsible for fricking everyone essentially own all of the major ISPs.

they are going to get their money regardless.

and google fiber aint gonna save everybody b/c as soon as they grab market share they are going to start jacking up their prices as well.

you dont sound like a millennial, which is who DISH is gearing this towards.

-"There is a growing gap - market capitalization has been declining in traditional pay TV for years."
-"Millenials reject the big, bigger, biggest packages. The exhausting contracts, cable installers, high fees and costs."
-We expect to provide full a la carte choose your own channels soon.
-Pause live TV, rewind, FF. From your different device

Don't really no what you are talking about. Cable is far superior to streaming in every way but price right now. As with anything, if you want something good you have to pay for it. Right now, cable isn't worth me shelling the money for it since I have my friends login stuff. But that basically means I'm stealing it.

I also use Spotify.

A la carte streaming will be way more expensive and clunkier to use than cable in the near future. They really need to up the bandwidth or people will be having a hard time watching big events. My WatchESPN didn't work for the Oregon/FSU game as it crashed nationwide. Didn't really care since I was getting it for free, but would be PO'ed big time if I was paying $20 a month.

Ugh the agreement is in place, it will start in the spring.

Personally my direct tv package of 75 dollars a month is still worth it.

I have the genie system 3 boxes, one main dvr and two genies, one of which is a wireless. Anytime your contract is up you can call and get them to make it rain on you. I do have this rare "Free HD for life" that i got when they ran a special.

How in the world is this too expensive? This plus a netflix subscription, and say the basic cable plus HBO package Cox has with their internet, I mean what else would you need? That would all cost you about $120/month at most including internet and TV options

Exactly. You answered your own questions. How much are you really saving if you are still paying $120/month? $10? What's the point. I think this is a shite deal and way to expensive. $8 like Hulu and it's reasonable, maybe.

Again, what are you talking about? Have you read that I cut the cord. Even though I did, it isn't close to cable without my friend's login info. Even with the login info, I still find it to be severely lacking in many ways. Case in point, couldn't watch the Oregon/FSU game.

Still paying for netflix too, correct? So thats about $120 per month you pay now. Compared to $90 with this option

So youre gonna save about ~$30 per month, which is over $360 per year. Not significant savings I guess.

Nope, I don't currently pay for Netflix, but I would if I dropped cable. I see your point though.

You can get HD local channels over an antenna for free. I personally just stream the others whenever Im interested in a game but I can see why some wouldnt want to do that.

Yeah I'd have to check to see if I could pick those channels up. In my old place I couldn't, but I just moved a few days ago so maybe I could take advantage of an HD antenna here.

Most of the cable companies also provide the internet necessary to use this.

From this day forth, media service conglomerates will not be known as,"cable companies", but instead, be known as internet providers, as cable is hereby dead.

Long live our glorious internet providers.

And only fap twice a day to pr0n.. max

A la carte will mean the price for each individual channel will go way up.

I'd rather pay what I'm paying now for hundreds of channels instead of the same price for 20 channels.

Someone who gets it. ESPN is like $10 a month for all there channels to users and now they want $20 A la carte. Plus you are stuck with crappier streaming and can only use it on one device at a time.

LOL at the BIG for adding poverty schools like Rutgers and Maryland because in time those TV dollars are going to become peasantry.
So you don't think espn has to pay for the content they are charging for?

That's not going to happen, literally no chance at all.

Your ISP has a data cap, most do now, but you could leave it on streaming ESPN all day for the month and not be even close to that cap, including your other usage be it gaming or just browsing the Web, etc.
