Who should we believe? Literally the only people claiming the 30th is definitely happening if need be are blog boys and nephews.

They wont do it voluntarily. If the lakers have a commitment from a max guy, they will 100% add to the deal to push it back.

What if Griff says we need Kuzma and another unprotected 1st? Sounds unreasonable, but would pelinka pass up on a Kawhi/Kemba/Kyrie for that?

I'd fricking love that tbh. The drama would be too good to worry about anything else that would come as a result.

I would like to think there would be some kind of negotiating done and it wouldn't cost that but considering how everything transpired, I wouldn't be surprised if he would take that

how many rodeos have you seen where a GM fricks up the timing of the deal so badly that the trade has to be revised to compensate for said error?

I literally can't think of one, so I'm genuinely asking.

So why doesn't pelinka just reverse the deal now and renegotiate?

they are waiting until the 30th to see FA interest. then Bob will go to Griffin and see what is needed.

It can also still become a three team Deal if pels find a #4 pick suitor

I'm sure something will come out supporting that. Have a hard time believing that Pelinka doesn't know how cap space works being that he was an high level agent for forever.

IDK I just see 3 options for Pelinka here and none of them are good IF it's truly the case that there is nothing currently agreed upon as to pushing the trade back to the 30th.

A. Pelinka gives griffin whatever he asks for, even if it's Kuzma and/or an additional unprotected 1st rounder

B. Pelinka forgoes an opportunity at a 3rd max player and fills the roster out with their 24 million in cap space. Probably not a really bad option from a basketball perspective tbh. But it just solidifies that Pelinka and co gave up their opportunity for a 3rd star for absolutely nothing.

C. Pelinka and the Lakers balk on the deal entirely. This is obviously not going to happen, as that would kill their chances of getting AD next season, would kill their chances of picking up the 3rd star they were trying to sign, and would probably give bron legitimate reasons to ask out of that shitshow.

Again, this is all assuming the Lakers actually even get a 3rd star to commit to them prior to the 6th, AND that this hasn't already been negotiated and somehow not a single outlet has this info.

I'm in the camp of "Pelinka can't be this dumb/careless. I won't believe it until I see it."

I just don't understand why it hasn't come out yet if that is the case. You'd think someone close to the team like a Brad Turner or a Ramona would reveal that this exact situation was discussed and negotiated as part of the original deal.

The local media doesn't think it will be delayed, because the Pelicans aren't likely to keep that pick. One would think that Washington, Chicago, Cleveland or whoever makes the trade for #4 would want their player in the summer league.

And no way in hell the Pelicans are pushing back the effective date of the trade

I'll believe both when they actually happen.

if it stood between the lakers and kawhi, the trade would become a three team trade and the lakers would then simply send something on top of the 4th pick to the third team

I'm waiting until I see what actually happens with ADs kicker. I truly believe that pelinka did not negotiate the trade execution date
