ESPN spends more every 2 seasons on college football than the entire WNBA contract, and I'd argue time value of money it's pretty damn close one season vs total contract.

The WBNA isn’t an iconic league. All other sports make money and blow their viewership numbers away. It’s silly to try and justify this.

If we lived in a competitive market place this would have happend a long time ago.
ESPN went from an almost universally beloved and celebrated brand to an almost universally hated one, in about 10-15 years time.
ESPN doesn't survive based on providing a good product people like, they are propped up by Disney money allowing them to sign exclusive contracts with stuff people actually do like They have college football held hostage just as an example.
