A) That doesn't mean they aren't on scholarship. I know several athletes in D3 on "Academic scholarship" or "need-based" who happen to also be very good at sports. Some would not have gotten into the school they are at if it wasn't for sports.
B) Did you know that the only people who care about Chalmette are the people who live there? See how that works.

Gotta show this to my brother and father. He was trying hard to get my brother to play for him last year. I always thought he was a really cool guy. My brother really liked him but Huntingdon as a school sucks.

Well as the son of a college golf coach that did not have any scholarships to give out, and the brother of a D3 athlete; they still have to meet their goals and are very committed to doing such.

No. He's the head coach, not some random volunteer. I've never asked him what he made, but his family isn't hurting for money so I'm sure it's a respectable amount.

this was from 2007-08 and is what the D1 coaches make
Obviously money has to be involved to care about it. Heaven forbid you just want to do something because you love it or because you think you could do well at it. Even if he was a volunteer that somehow negates the time he spends to make that team the best it can be? What are the Chalmette coaches getting paid? To go 2-7, anything over a dollar must be too much.

He probably makes 35-40k a year. FWIW.
I wish some people who work in my office who get paid in that range would care as much about their performance.

He may want to continue his career and move up the ranks as a golf coach. It's hard to do that if they suck.

2. As someone who has played college rugby (club sport so no scholarships) I can tell you we got our asses cursed at just as much as this. Any coach who cares and puts a ton of effort into coaching any team at any division is capable of going off like this.
ETA: I shouldn't say we got chewed out this bad, but we got yelled at on a pretty regular basis
