Everyone on that list except brady was during a different era and they put up those numbers. Before pass happy era. Not a hof accomplishment imho.

He has a decent lifetime passer rating at 84.1.
That may be decent historically; however, compared to his contemporaries this is actually quite unimpressive. In particular, there are nearly 40 players whose careers overlapped with Eli's who have a higher passer rating including: Kaepernick, Winston, Cousins, Dalton, Mariota, Tannehill.

In addition, Eli's highest rating for a single season (93.6) is below the CAREER AVERAGE of 13 players including:

Aaron Rodgers
Russell Wilson
Drew Brees
Tony Romo
Tom Brady
Dak Prescott
Kirk Cousins
Steve Young
Peyton Manning
Phillip Rivers
Matt Ryan
Ben Roethlisberger
Kurt Warner
quote:

Over his career in terms of percentage of games won he is about 60%
He's 117-117 in 234 career starts in the regular season and 8-4 in 12 career starts in the postseason.

That's a career record of 125-121, which is a winning percentage of 50.8%.

Yes. Family name and East Coast bias makes it a lock at some point.

That's subjective and the QB always has a better than 70% chance to win it. It matters not.

It's not tough, he's in, it's a no-brainer.

I'm not saying he's a first-ballot guy. There have been guys that have been waiting longer and deserve in first.

The rub is that people are trying to judge this by a single standard and there isn't a single standard. For some it's longevity, for other's it's peak. The best excel at both longevity and peak play.

Eli qualifies as peak performance. Two SB wins vs one of the NFL's greatest dynasties, 2 SB MVPs, all-time great moments, that gets you in, as it should.

Because he played in New York, yes. If he had played in Arizona or Tampa there might be a pause. Besides the one SB win, what did Namath really do? I like Broadway Joe and all too

2 SB MVP's is tough to overlook. Not supposed to be about that, but it is what it is. David Tyree deserved one of those.
