Edwin Encarnación has been traded from the Seattle Mariners to the New York Yankees, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN. Encarnación currently leads the American League with 21 home runs. The Mariners’ teardown is in full bloom and the Yankees get another big bat.

With Judge and Stanton on AAA rehab right now, they are getting the bats back in order

He must have started PED-ing his arse off in 2012. He finally started playing full seasons and mashing home runs.

Dang. When was the last time the league leader in HRs was traded in June?

This was always the plan for the M’s.

This makes zero sense.

Yankees need starting pitching.

It also means bye bye birdie.

It’s actually not a bad deal for y’all. The mariners get your number 27 prospect and still eat half of EE’s contract.

It gives them their DH, with Voit being the every day 1b.

They need to trade a bat, and need starting pitching. Carlos Martinez would be a perfect addition, he's really close to building up his arm strength to go back to the rotation.

If he matures to an adult, he could be dominant, he has before, but his maturity level has lacked. Carlos Zambrano part 2.0. nasty stuff, elevator goes half way up.

They needed an arm, not more firepower.

Whoever gets Frazier from them is going to get a player on the verge of breaking out. His progression is real, he's sitting on his break out as a really good player.

I agree 100%. As an Astro fan, I'd love to have him somehow.

I was hoping that they would wait closer to the trade deadline. Could have maybe gotten a better prospect(s). I think they are ready to give some of the younger guys, those ABs.

Yankees better not trade Frazier unless it is for someone like Max.
I'm assuming DJ will start playing more 3B as Good has come back down to earth. Small sample size but .179/.244/.359 in June. Big question will be when Stanton and Judge return. I assume Stanton, Voit, and Edwin all rotate DH with Edwin/Voit rotating 1B and Frazier/Stanton rotating OF. Give everyone at least 1 day off a week.

remember, only 1 trade deadline

No more waiver wire deals, so expect a lot more early action. Next couple of weeks could be real interesting. Some teams dealing before deadline to be the early bird.

Correct, there are rumors of the Yankees would approach the Nationals about Max. Giants are holding Bumgarner in high demand and I wouldn't trust Boyd or Stroman down the stretch.
Here is to hoping Severino comes back and pitches like the ace he can be and that Happ rediscovers himself.
