Not sold on Oakland, but they have an absolute dude on the block. Could give UK some fits

Both of these along with:

Nevada over Dayton
James Madison over Wisconsin
Texas A&M over Nebraska
TCU over Utah State
McNeeese over Gonzaga

“Upset” meaning lower seed beating higher seed. Not necessarily going by point spread

Funny how people assume it’s an upset because one is a G5 and one is a P5.

I’m looking at either Oakland > Kentucky or Vermont > Duke.

I’m also pondering Western Kentucky > Marquette.

Does Oakland drive to the basket? Can they make uncontested layups?

Didn’t SDSU just make the finals?

I have absolutely 0 data to back this up, but it seems like its harder for underdogs to beat teams with a good frontcourt or even just 1 really good big man, which Duke has. But also those guys can get into foul trouble and that changes the game, but its impossible to predict that.

GCU has major conf size, legit talent, and some degree of experience. Plus, who knows if they actually have to go to school…or if they can just earn their degree online attending classes on nights and weekends…in their robes after putting the kids to bed.

They got a bit of a tough draw though in an always well coached St. Mary’s team. Still like GCU though.

I agree with you on Clemson and, especially South Carolina. The data says they are worse than their records reflect.

I like McNeese. Hate them playing Gonzaga for upset purposes.

Going to throw in some wild ones

If a 16 beats a 1. I think it will be Longwood over Houston. Longwood has a 7'0 center that could give them problems. Also have 2 kids from Houston that get significant minutes that will be highly motivated. They need Elijah Tucker (Xavier transfer) to be available to have a chance.

15 over 2 - WKU over Marquette. No reason other than I don't think Marquette is all that great
