The Air Raid has been tried and failed already in the NFL, remember the Run and Shoot.

This will fail, hiring a half asses college coach to run an NFL offense is idiotic.

The Cardinals couldn't run a play with a penalty for some stupid shite that you can get away with in college.

Kyler Murray's stat line against the Raiders:

3-8-0, 12 yards, 0 TD
1 carry for 4 yards
Sacked twice, once for a safety

Game was 26-0 Raiders when Murray was pulled, final score was 33-26 Raiders.

It’s week to week for rookies. Flip Murray and Haskins this week as compared to last and next week could easily flip them again

Yeah, this board is typical overreaction. Give them a little bit of game data and everyone is making predictions.

My favorite moment?

Clelin Ferrell, who the Raiders were criticized for taking, chased Murray down on one of their drives.

Ferrell is athletic, but he’s not a freak. It looked to me like Murray isn’t fast enough to run away at the NFL level.

By my count, Kyler Murray went 19-for-22 passing in 11-on-11 and 7-on-7. His first two throws were incomplete, which means he finished...19-for-20. Not a bad first training camp practice. We saw a lot of short and intermediate passes, which are staples of the Air Raid.

This does not look good for Arizona's defense...

If you’re going to run in the NFL, you’ve got to be very smart about it. Start thinking you’re the best athlete on the field and you’re going to get fricked up.

Cardinals, instead of going the smart, intelligent route, went the ALL IN, stupid, well show them route.

They will be drafting high for many years

If he stays healthy, I expect him to be pretty damn good.

That's a big 'if'.

The real fun would be if he is terrible this year and the cards end up with the first pick again. They gonna trade him in for a new car like they did Rosen?

Obviously it's too early to judge, but this is not a great start.

quote:

Kliff & Kyler: Cardinals first team offense this preseason

5 drives over 2 games

Results:

Drive 1: 10 plays, 33 yards, punt
Drive 2: 6 plays, 13 yards, punt
Drive 3: 3 plays, -6 yards, punt
Drive 4: 3 plays, -10 yards, punt
Drive 5: 3 plays, -10 yards, safety

That's 25 plays for 20 yards.

I love the dichotomy of the whole thing. Last week he was throwing 4 yard out routes and analytics Twitter was like “WOW THIS KID IS GOING TO BE A PROBLEM”. “THIS GUY IS AMAZING” etc

Now he gets tore up and “oh hey it’s early guys just preseason can’t make judgements”

Like where was that attitude last week?

If you’re going to run in the NFL,

Thats the problem, running in the NFL doesn't work. At some point he is going to have to stand in the pocket and make throws. In the playoffs those running lanes disappear and you have to get the ball to your playmakers.
This era of the NFL is built on the pass and if you cannot stand in the pocket and make good throws, you will be replaced no questions asked.

As John Madden would always say, a QB needs to run enough to get one first down a game and that's it.

Murray is going to be another flop at QB and it's all his fault. He should have played baseball but his ego and bad guidance put him in a terrible position.

I mean again, let's wait on this for more than preseason. Let him see what can happen in the NFL. Manning had 28 INTs his rookie year and he turned out ok. It is sometimes a learn on the job league, and if you can't, then yea you're out

And I would think the % of first rounders in baseball who ever play in MLB is lower than in any other league just because of their robust farm system/so many rounds

Any hot takes based on preseason games should be a ban able offense.
