Earl Thomas is about to become the NFL's first $10 million-a-year safety.

Thomas and the Seattle Seahawks have agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $40 million, sources confirmed Monday to ESPN.

Earl Thomas' four-year deal with the Seahawks is worth $40 million, according to sources, which would make him the NFL's highest-paid safety in terms of average salary.
NFL.com reported earlier Monday that Thomas agreed to the extension, which makes him the NFL's highest-paid safety in terms of average annual salary.

Thomas' new deal includes $27.75 million in guaranteed money, sources confirmed to ESPN.

Sherman is rumored to be close to a deal with an average of about $13 million/year.

Carroll and Schneider have a philosophy that you can have around 4-5 big contracts on the team. So Wilson, Sherman, Thomas, Harvin, then pick one from between Okung or Lynch.

The GM should have brought him into a room with a dry erase board and told him these are the people we will have to get rid of because of your contract.

Between Kam Chancellor, Earl Thomas, and Richard Sherman...Seattle will pay 30 million to 3DBs.

All entering their prime.

Sounds good to me.

They should get rid of Wilson after this season if he is really going to command $18 million a year.

Wow, so much for thinking the Hawks would let him walk after they signed Sherman

I know RBs are a dime a dozen, but running backs as Good as Lynch are not. There are probably 3 total that are on that level.

I agree, but I don't think he'll be getting that big of a contract. He'll be on the wrong side of 30 when he starts his next contract, plus Seattle has Christine Michael who they love. It wouldn't surprise me to see Lynch with a new team in 2016.
