Title contender sure. But obviously they felt they needed Durant to finish the job. Not a contradiction.

They “needed” KD because he was available and willing to come there. Any team in the league recruits a guy like KD.

Just using your logic here, since he didn’t win anything without them, wouldn’t you say he needed them?

He made decision before steph got there so he would not have to deal with being asked to stay and say no to steph.

The story doesn’t make it sound like jumped the gun by not waiting for Steph; it makes it sound like the decision was inevitable either way. In fact, I would argue that it was more fair to Steph to not lead him on and make him go through a pointless pitch if it wasn’t going to make a difference.

Meh. This seems like the common (see most Cavs fans following The Decision) post-hoc rationalization when one is upset with a completely fair and justifiable outcome.

But since that makes their emotional reaction their own fault and a result of their own dissonance, a poor reflection of their selves that makes them uncomfortable, they instead make try to divert blame, usually onto the person who made the decision they didn’t like.

But since the decision itself is fair and justifiable, they have to find something other than the “what” to blame the “who.” Since the “why” is usually hard to identify, they resort to the “how” (before Steph’s pitch) and/or the “where” (a TV special). But it’s usually pretty obvious that they wouldn’t have had a problem with the how and where if the what (signed with them) and who (superstar) went their way.

Well Kyrie, like Westbrook, is a ball dominant PG, so maybe he’s going back to that style. That said, he didn’t seem to like it in OKC who was a far superior distributor. So unless he thinks Kyrie’s superior shooting solves that issue, I think there is a lot of potential for major problems, especially with Durant having to come back from such a major injury in the backside of his career.

And while Durant does himself no favors with his thin-skin responses on social media and his burner accounts, I do think he is struggling with some issues. There was a story Steve Nash told after working with Durant following his first championship. He said Durant was despondent and seemed to be struggling with the realization that the championship that he thought would make him happy and fulfill something that was missing, was not doing either.

They were so broken up about him jumping ship they retired his jersey a day later.

This is a brilliant move by GS. Doug Gottlieb mentioned on his show that this is great PR for the Warriors. In the modern NBA, you need to present your organization as best as possible for free agents seeking out possible places to play.

The Warriors announce to retire the jersey and look like they’re taking the high road. Players like that.

The opposite is the Knicks. Their owner is busy putting Charles Oakley in cuffs. Nobody wants to play for that franchise regardless of cap space.

Then don't join a 70+ win team with 3 all-stars.

Durant is such a mental pussy. The New York media is going to make his head explode.

While he didn’t hurt their chances of winning more titles than they already had without him, KD most likely has zero without GS. Without GS KD would be nearing the stage in his career where he starts catching MAJOR heat for not winning any titles.

Like I said above I think he believed that a championship would fill some void in his life and give him happiness that the void was preventing.

I also don’t think he realized people would react so harshly to his decision, and worse, minimize the accomplishments, especially after it turned out well with LeBron and turned out particularly well a few weeks before his decision (Cavs championship). That being said, this was a foolish since those super teams were only super teams because Lebron was on them; the Warriors were already a super team, coming off one championship and were a play or two away from another one on top of being the most winningest team of all time.

What does that even mean? Everything he said was most likely true. Durant would probably have 0 championships if he didn’t go to the Warriors, especially since the Warriors (his competition) would have still been the favorites every year.

Go to bed bro . The warriors were not a super team before Durant went there. A homegrown talent team has never been called a SUPER team.
