What argument does Staubach have over Brees except ringz?
'murica's team.
Imho its a sop to old people.
Is anyone alive who saw sammy baugh play?
Did voters watch film of him?
People who were adults when Otto Graham played are 90.
I agree on graham though. Several pro championships.
My personal favorite:
Led a team of Cleveland players and rookies to crush nfl champ Green Bay in hall of fame game.
I saw that game.

The bottom line is the biggest voice of the committee that made this atrocious list was Bill Belichick
You think he wants Brees listed anywhere near Brady right now? No. Because Brees destroys the Brady GOAT narrative and outperforms him literally in every actual QB metric

How many of you post 2006 Drew Brees fans actually were old enough to watch Roger Staubach play? When Staubach played he was hit on every play with no penalties and his receivers were not only grabbed down field, they were grabbed at the line of scrimmage! There was no 5 yards of no touching them. This sweetie passing that Brees does is a joke compared to pre-1994 rules.
All of the QBs in that time played under those rules, yet Staubach was only voted all-Pro once, and it was as a second teamer. Considering he played at a time when no other guy on this list was in the league, that's quite the knock.

Top 10 is not fantasy football. His stats are great. But he's never been considered the best QB of his era. Not a single season.
I don't get that logic. Was Marino ever considered the best in his era? Elway? Maybe Favre was for a year or two at best. So you penalize a guy just because he played in the same era with possibly the best ever and three other top ten all time qbs? And disregrd the fact that he has better numbers than all of them?
So there are no other players on this list who weren't considered the best ever at their position? Guess no CB from Dion Sanders era made it. Or any OLB from LT's era.

Do these people throwing out the "compared to his peers" argument intentionally ignore Brees having more TDs, Yards, Completions, Highest accuracy, highest yards per game, completions per game and literally top 3-5 in every category compared to his peers AND all-time?
Answer: Yes. Because they lick the taints of men by choice.

6th best run game.
#1 defense in the NFL
Can you fricking imagine Drew Brees with a legit #1 defense behind him?

Brees hears this stuff and takes it personally to prove people wrong. Can't wait for him to hoist the Lombardi this year.

He only averages about a yard more per completion on a substantially lower completion percentage, but sure, let's act like dinking and dunking is how Brees and Co operate.
Huge Brees fan here, but how many times has Brees had a running back with over 80 receptions in a season? That just didn’t happen in the past. The west coast offense changed that, with Roger Craig and Ricky Waters.
The game is vastly different

The west coast offense and its variants have been around since the 80's and yet I see several QBs on that list who were in similar systems.
So is that a knock on JUST Brees and not Montana, Favre, Brady etc?
Even though he objectively outperforms all of them in every QB metric?

Not sure when that Elway myth started, but it's nonsense. The passing game was the weakest link in one of those SB runs.

Are you serious??? Dan was throwing numbers up far above the rest of the pack in the 80s.
Here's a hint: until Warner broke the 40TD barrier, only one QB had done it. Twice. Guess who?

Just like 4 of 6 of Brady's superbowls
Dude is ranked like in the bottom 10 in overall passing stats this season and his team is 12-3.
Do we need anymore proof as to who really carries those teams?

Oh, we are doing that now?
Ok. Do yards and accuracy now.

I can see the Brady chode sniffers have finally woken up and are downvoting logical objective posts.
Their tears and downvotes are delicious

87,87,89. Those years combined Elway had 58 tds with 43 int.
He didn’t drag shite to the Super Bowl. With those numbers, you can say they dragged him.

Whitlock's comment is more of an indictment of the media and award voters than Brees.

Sure, but not many teams had personnel to match. Most running backs didnt have the ball catching skills that you see today.
You can add tight ends too. Tight ends didn’t have the ball skills back then either.
I’m not knocking Brees, he’s a top 5 all time in my book
