I think the average draft predicter gets about 7 right every first round. Which should bring people back to that "trained monkey" thing very quickly.

I mean getting even close to 32 selections right would be statistically really frickin hard to do

I don’t understand people who expect draft projectors to be magical savants who can predict the future

the only thing I hate about it is that it leads to "Why did the saints take _____ here??? Kiper had him graded out as 4th rounder!!!" Those guys are entertainers first then sort of scouts, who gives a frick where they had them on their board? NFL GMs aren't using their rankings to determine where to take a guy

It's way too drawn out.

I don’t think it’s drawn out enough tbh.

The only people watching on Saturdays anymore are die hards, so instead of cruising past 10 draft selections without any discussion and talking about the QBs that got taken on day 1 for the umpteenth time, they should let the real film junkie analysts break down these picks for the fans of the team who are watching and wanting to know who the frick the safety they just drafted in the 5th round is.

I do miss it all being on Saturday tho. That could’ve been a fun day drinking kind of day

There is nothing more boring and useless than the NFL Draft and I’ve never understood it’s appeal to some people.

It's not signing day good but it can be fun for a round or two for fans. In college, we get 25 recruits to fawn over and the guys are all basically getting it done in just a single morning and afternoon of activity. Then someone gets to go out and celebrate another recruiting number 1 class.

7 NFL rounds, that's 7 players for only 32 teams man. The draft gurus can only say it so many times before they start getting a brain cramp themselves. Whoever invented the expression "paralysis by analysis" must have been thinking about the NFL draft.

There’s actually more than that but I get what you’re saying

Honestly that’s only because they only discuss the first round guys 80 percent of the time. By round 3 they aren’t even showing the draft picks anymore and it’s just them circling over the same 4 topics and draft grades

I get it. They know what sells. But if that's all the material I have for basically 32 picks over an extended period of time a draft guru would be the last profession I would choose.

From the player's standpoint, it has to start feeling like a rectum exam. They are praised, lied about, and greedily coveted for 4 months solid.

I always enjoy the left wing bloggers and podcasters getting angry about certain QBs dropping. Sneaky good schadenfreude.

I hate-read Deadspin and others regularly and get a kick our of their desperate wokeness

1) Not much else is happening this time of year.

2) It appeals to college and pro football fans.

3) The draft for every team, but especially the teams picking early, signals the start of renewed hope for a new season.

4) It is an actual debatable talk/speculation subject. They don't have to invent story lines or drama for ratings.

5) It beats ESPNs current era of over focus on polarizing political rhetoric.

They have to talk about something.

I don't like the Thursday-Saturday format. I liked it better when the draft was three rounds Saturday and four on Sunday.
