Simmons know much more about professional basketball, especially things like the salary cap and collective bargaining agreement, than 99% of former pro NBA players.

Think about it. ESPN hires the pro athletes who come off the best, and they all sound like a bunch of morons, just spouting cliches about how so and so is a winner or team X has more heart.

Bilas knows what he is talking about, and he never made it to the NBA. There are probably a few other guys who are worth listening to, especially among former coaches like Hubie Brown, but Simmons brings a hell of a lot more to the table in terms of knowledge and entertainment value than 90% of talking heads. The one thing is that Simmons is BSing about college players since he hasn't seen most of them play, but Bilas is perfect for that, while Simmons knows what he is talking about in terms of NBA team needs, possible offseason moves, the free agency market, etc.

Obviously a lot of that info comes from Zach Lowe, who is brilliant, but Simmons was fine even when Lowe was an underappreciated guy that the Boston dailies ignored because they have their heads up their asses and continue to employ Dan fricking Shaugnessy.

Charles and Kenny are fun with their show, but they would be absolutely fricking awful with the draft, as they were in the past.

That isn't saying a whole lot though because I do genuinely believe that if you gave 3 or 4 of the best MSB posters some media training, they would also run circles around former NBA players, assuming they didn't sound like Bobby Boucher and/or Larry the Cable Guy.

bullshite. They were great. They just needed a Bilas type that knows the college players that they have no clue about. They are always entertaining no matter what subject.

Bill Simmons reminded me of those MNF games with Dennis Miller, STFU already

Boston was rebuilding, Doc and Ainge agreed it was better for him to leave

That's really the end of the story, I know people want it to be more because there's a lack of NBA flopping news but that's really all there is to it

Simmons called doc out because doc's people orchestrated the whole thing, tampered with the clippers roster and then Doc acted like he didn't know anything about it. Which is total bullshite. Simmons had the balls to call him out on it, point out his hypocrisy and then challenged doc to own it. And doc lied about his role and insulted Simmons in a petty backlash to Simmons calling him out.

Doc did a milder version of what Dwight Howard did to the Magic, although it wasn't nearly as prolonged.

Why is it ok for Doc Rivers to do that but it's the worst thing in the world when players like Dwight, Carmelo, or CP3 do it?

Again, Doc signed a 5 year, $35 million deal TWO YEARS AGO! He saw the writing on the wall and signed anyway.

His quote about not thinking about KG and Pierce's deals is bullshite.

He signed the massive deal, decided he didn't want to rebuild two years later, and then orchestrated the deal to LA.

If he wanted out, fine. But I'm with Simmons 100%. Doc should own up to it. Don't pretend you're onboard with the celtics for public opinion purposes. If you wanted to leave, fine. But fricking own it.

Doc had the knowledge that they traded KG and Pierce when he made the deal to leave. I think that's a great move by rivers.

Simmons article from 2007 bitching about Boston giving Doc an extension.

IMO both of them looked stupid this week. Doc has always been forthcoming with the media, but I wish he would've held back a little when the reporter asked him about Simmons. At some point, someone should also tell Simmons that he is an NBA analyst now for a national outlet. Except for those who followed Simmons before TV, no one cares about his love for Boston teams. Cover the entire NBA like you're there to do.

It's common knowledge that Rivers didn't want to be part of rebuilding in Boston, he left for

So Rivers is taking the Phil Jackson approach?
