re: Do you think Fox Sports 1 can really compete with ESPN?

They can compete if they can get a deal done with TWC and DTV. I read somewhere that ESPN's contracts are expiring soon and they are going to ask for outrageous fees. If the big cable and satellite companies shut them out for a while Fox Sports 1 will hopefully take advantage.

it will be nice to have another option
There already is another option from a major station.
NBC Sports.
The funniest thing about the ESPN haters hoping for a fresh new station completely forgot about NBC Sports. You guys were pimping the station a couple years ago.

Why bc it disagrees with you? Yea for some reason someone who thinks terry Bradshaw and Erin Andrews is high quality television is someone who's opinion I'm not gonna put much stock in. I'm sure you were an avid viewer of Fox's equivalent of college game day last year with her and Joey Harrington

NBC Sports isn't even in the same realm.
Doesn't have daily football shows, or a sports news show, or any decent contracts other than the NHL.
FS1 has all of those things plus soccer, NFL, MLB, USGA contracts and soon Nascar alongside CFB and CBB.

Sorry bruh, #1 NFL pregame show for like 15 straight years.
Come back when you're not mentally retarded.

Exactly, I get annoyed with ESPN's east coast, casual viewer pandering as much as anyone but people who think that as a whole fox sports will be different is deluding themselves. It's a classic case of the grass is always greener.

The route that I'm taking is that even if they all pander, the more avenues for new personalities to emerge will lead to more choices for the viewers.
I don't like very much of ESPN at all, but I like SVP and Rusillo. Most of Fox Sports Radio bothers me, but I like Petros and Money. I kind of like Michelle Beadles show on NBC sports. I like MLB networks whiparound coverage.
More choices = better.

Absolutely I agree 100%. In addition I think it'll be great for sports other than MLB, NFL, NBA, CFB, and CBB. You're already seeing soccer get a huge boost with all 3 networks wanting a piece of the pie and really going out their way to hype up their soccer options for viewers

NBC Sports has the show that you want Sportscenter to be.
The Lights is a 20 minute highlight show with no anchors or discussion. Just straight highlights.

NBC has the EPL now. All of it.
So they will grow in market share.
Fox has Champions League, which helps their share.
As for the conversation around pregame shows, I just want some xs and os with some stats and other analysis thrown in. However, there are millions of people who aren't me, so that doesn't sell and thus isn't on.

People that don't think Fox Sports will inevitably turn exactly into ESPN don't understand how ratings and advertising revenues work.
Someone gets it.
Fox is going to be even worse because their game production is so atrocious.
Whatever you want to say about ESPN they generally do a great job when it comes to actually showing the games.

You're not touching ESPN because of a strong soccer lineup.

No, they're never showing what's it says is on

Some of their success will depend on channel placement

I think the main thing is live sports events and analysts.
If they get arse hats like ESPN has then it will suck just as bad.
