They never actually win the tournament. Who cares.

Arkansas as a 10 seed is the only team left that fits that category.

Cinderella has never had the talent to win it all.

This.

You don't even have to go that far back in time to find another Sweet 16 with no mid-majors. 2019 Sweet 16 had no mid-majors and this was pre-NIL, pre-portal.

2019:

(1) Duke vs (4) Va Tech
(3) LSU vs (2) Mich St

(1) Gonzaga vs (4) Fla St
(3) Tx Tech vs (2) Michigan

(1) UVA vs (12) Oregon
(3) Purdue vs (2) Tennessee

(1) UNC vs (5) Auburn
(3) Houston vs (2) Kentucky

Meh for who they’ve been, I think Gonzaga is economically still a mid major… they play other mid majors in a mid major arena

Weren’t FAU and SD St playing each other in the final 4 two years ago?

Didn’t NC State make the final 4 as an 11 seed last year?

What are we even talking about here?

People thinking there are multiple small school cinderellas every year because they only remember those moments when it's typically 14 or 15 big boy programs in Sweet 16 every year.

Think of all the great players in the past that never got seen and scouted, maybe even never made the tournament because they picked the wrong program coming out of high school or they weren’t as wanted then.

Yeah, some of these mid-majors have very good basketball programs with a solid fanbase and booster network. Calling programs like Butler, Xavier, Creighton, Cinn, St. Johns, VCU, etc. a Cinderella just isn't true. And that's to say nothing of programs like Villanova, Gonzaga, UCONN that are better than most P5 schools.

Some of those can still be Cinderella schools as bottom seeds. It’s not always about the name of the school.
