Vancouver Canucks - There is no NHL in Houston and I have an aunt that lives in Vancouver and when I went to see her growing up she took me to my first game. I've followed them ever since.

MLB - not sure it counts but I'm thinking about following a different team from here on out. I HATE the DH and the AL, so the Astros switch pisses me off a lot more than most. Thinking either Cubs or Pirates, both teams with a lot of history and neither is currently a contender so it wouldn't feel like bandwagon jumping.

All of the teams that I like are b/c at some point in my life I lived in or near the city where the teams play (New Orleans, Atlanta, and DC).

Saints

Originally from Houston, but the oilers were gone by the time I could really understand and like football. We have family friends in New Orleans and whenever we visited when I was younger, we would go to saints games. Also was a fan of Ricky Williams at the time.

My sister is much older than I am, and she attended Florida State.

She would take me to the games and I loved it.

I support the team to this day.

ATL Braves. Grandpa is a huge fan. I was brainwashed early.

Oakland Raiders. My dad was a fan of Stabler at Alabama and followed his pro career. I became a life long Raiders fan.

St. Louis Blues fan that grew up in Texas. Whole family is from the St. Louis area, minus me, and my Dad is a big Blues fan. So when we watched hockey it was always to watch the Blues.

I'm from Connecticut but root for New York teams (Knicks, Mets, Jets, Rangers). Not really a big Boston fan so I chose the NY route.

Used to be a Hartford Whalers fan though!

I became a Giants fan back in the late 80's as a kid, when I had the brilliant idea, "well their football team is good, must mean their baseball team is good." Will Clark became my favorite player, and then I found out he was from here.
Not that I much care one way or another about hockey, I have been a Penguins fan since about the same time. Go to the mail one day and there is an autographed poster from Mario Lemiuex.
I was a Lakers fan growing up, till Shaq left.(By then the Hornets were here.) During the first NBA Finals between the Lakers and Pistons, my Dad and had a quarter bet per game. He took the Pistons, I took the Lakers. Was a fan since. Still like to see them do well, just not as much as the Hornets or Grizz(lived in Memphis for 11 years)
