Tony La Russa occasionally bats Leury Garcia lead off. Garcia has a sub .200 OBP this year and a sub .300 career OBP.

Rick Hahn was one of the safest GM's in MLB for years before the La Russa hire. Ownership stamped this willingly and may have suggested it in the first place but when they end La Russa don't be surprised if they end Hahn with him.
He was just a bad hire for a team of young Latin potential Superstars at 3rd, LF, and CF. Plus you have Abreu at first, Grandal behind the plate and Leury Garcia is your 2nd baseman/super utility guy.
It doesn't have to be a Latin dude, either. Bob Melvin would have been a killer hire.
I give La Russa another month, the All Star break tops.

Call me a boomer, but this is the kind of nonsense that has my interest in sports dropping. Absolute childish behavior - celebrate with teammates but this constant over the top taunting is just getting old. Dude is almost 32 years old calling a 70 year old hall of famer a 'bitch'. Grow the hell up. You've got a sub-.200 BA this season with 4hr/19 rbi and likely won't get re-signed once the season ends.

Tony La Russa had the best closer in the game pitch around Mike Davis to get to the league MVP in Kirk Gibson.

Hobled or not, they were more afraid of a guy that had 4 HRs and was hitting .196 that year.

Wait seriously? Muncy may not get resigned? Dude plays multiple positions, has posted a + OPS every year besides 2020 as a Dodger and has been worth 0.5 WAR so far and will probably finish around 2 WAR...

The MLB hitting average .240/.311/.340 which is why a player like Bregman can hit .221/.336/.387 and be 12% better than average.

Muncy needs one good week

Did you watch the clip? The headline is misleading to say the least.

This is incorrect. Dodgers were leading 7-5 at the time, this 3 run homer put them up by 5. Still a stupid decision but the way you framed the situation makes it look way worse.

La Russa is washed up and needs to be canned for this. Absolutely terrible decision.

Is that Daniel’s dad? They never showed him in Karate Kid. Did they bring him back in Cobra Kai?

You don't need to know how to count when you know how to win.

The outcome says it was the wrong decision in this instance. But in sports that does not always mean the decision wasn't an appropriate one despite the outcome.

From my perspective, I think that with a 1-2 count with 2 outs you just do what, in the old days, was called "pitching around the batter". Balls out of the strike zone that look appealing but are virtually unhittable.

Or do what the A's did to Johnny Bench in a world series game in a similar situation except it was 3-2. Motion the pitchout the come in with a strike instead. I was a huge Reds fan, at the time, and Bench in particular. I remember watching that happen as it happened on TV. You me was devastated.
