So everyone knows the Baby Cakes are leaving, but the POS owner hasn't given official notice yet, because he's worried the new stadium he's moving to, might not be ready by opening day.

So, the LSED can't sign someone new to take their place, until they officially terminate the lease.

The LSED ought to terminate the lease themselves. If they have to pay for that, so be it. Get this clown out of the stadium.

If his new stadium isn't reading, he can put his mickey mouse organization in a HS stadium for a few weeks.

Bye Felicia =)

Are there teams interested in moving there?

With the new additional AA teams now located in the gulf coast region, a AA team most likely will take its place

If they weren't recognizing the LLWS kids at their home finale nobody would've remembered the Babycakes were still playing.

That's not really how it works. The state is going to have to really figure out if they actually want baseball in NOLA instead of half assing it like they did with the Cakes.

Probably not, but as a minor league player, there are certainly worse cities to be stuck in than New Orleans (Metairie).

I just think any ownership group is going to be very uneasy about investing in team here with the way the LSED handled the Babycakes, post the return of NBA basketball to NOLA. I really think that the only way baseball comes back is if the Benson family is involved.

That really has nothing to do with why the team is leaving. Contractually they were supposed to put $20 mil in renovations into the stadium and they ended up doing just over $1 mil

Is it though? Having a AA team isn't really a game changer for us. The Z's/Cakes haven't even carried enough weight to hold attention from the end of college baseball season to Saints training camp since the Daryle Ward days.

Maybe, but it might have helped if they'd gone with a name/logo that people might actually want to wear on a hat. They ended up with something that looked like it came out of Michael Jackson's house.

Who in the Southern League will move there? Nobody from the Texas League is changing leagues. Is there a team in the Eastern League ready to move to NOLA?

I mean, you can’t just create a double A team.

AA is better than AAA.

Better enough that it'll move the needle with potential fans? Because the Cakes were probably behind the Nola Gold this year in terms of interest. Granted, they completely punted on marketing this season because they were leaving.

Possibly, based upon the affiliation and the young talent that will skip AAA.
