I got an idea. Call his bluff. Don’t trade him.

He just signed a 4 year contract extension. Now that he secured the bag he’s gonna request a trade?

Call his bluff. Texans own his arse until 2026.

This is the only way to stop the NFL from turning into the NBA.

Again you would need massive changes to the CBA for this to ever happen.

So no need to freak out until 2030 at the earliest

I dont want the NFL turning into the NBA where players just choose completely where and when they want to play

NFL doesn’t want this either I’d bet. Part of their appeal is basically any franchise can be a competitor with some good management and a few breaks. Compared to the handful in the NBA and the 25 also rans.

Deshaun should sign with the Roughnecks

its not NFL $ but local ads/sponsorships and with the NFL harassing them over the logo it would make great theater

Watson brought a lot of this on himself by signing a huge contract AFTER the Texans traded his best weapon.......

Suck it up buttercup.... he is acting like a spoiled punk......

A superstar player demanding a trade while having a no trade clause, thus limiting their trade value and their current team's options to a few teams of their choosing?

Sounds like the NBA to me...

Don't take a huge contract and then decide you don't want to be there. There is a collectively bargained way to leave your current team against their wishes between the NFL and NFLPA, it just takes years and multiple franchise tags to get there. You don't like it? Take it up with your player reps and make them do better next time.

And he still doesn’t have 1/50th of the leverage that an NBA superstar would in that scenario

Non guaranteed contracts, the shortness of players careers and the franchise tag prevent any real player movement outside of a hand ful of outliers

Y’all act like this is the first trade demand in the NFLs history

And Watson was completely fine with O’Brien trading Hopkins.

Weren't there rumors of Hopkins being a complete pain in the arse in the locker room?

I’d guess those rumors came from Billy B

Yes, the Texans own him until then. But do you think the team survives a pissing match with its star QB given the fan base being pissed at the front office’s nonsensical bullshite?

Fortunately, this is football and not basketball. Those are Texans fans, not Deshaun Watson fans. The fans want what is best for the team.

There are Texan fans? No, there are football fans who happen to live in Houston.

The Texans don’t exactly have a fan base in part because they can’t or won’t associate with the former Oilers who were established in the area for so long.

I believe this is a god send. They just had a horrible year and the team's payroll is a mess. They have a new GM, new coach, they need to reset and start over. Watson is already a malcontent. Better to move on now while he has a ton of value. Trade Watt too and anybody else they can get value from.

Trade Watson to the Jets. Take Wilson with the 2nd pick and start building a team. Fans will be limited next year anyway. They will be better off in the long run..

Y’all are stupid. They’ll trade him. They won’t hold him hostage if he wants out.

I can't see how they will get a king's ransom for him.
