The worst are the overdone ‘black out’ unis some teams still roll out occasionally. Stanford, Miami, Duke, like to do this but black ain’t your school colour scumbags

Black is by far more common than red and is the last color I'd think of if someone requested more "variety".

I just can’t understand why a school like UCLA, which has an attractive blue and gold combo, wears an all black uni on occasion. Same with Stanford.

Completely agree. Texas A&M, a very very traditional school, wears all blacks.
There must be some marketing data that says black is in for certain demos. There's no other explanation.

In 1982, the high school I went to had traditional colors of purple/white/gray. That year we got a new set of basketball uniforms that were purple/orange/white.

I hated when LSU Baseball broke out the black unis and hats in early 2000's. Over time it grew on me, but just as an alternate now and then.
