Just said it during combine when Murray-Arizona draft talk started.

About 2 minutes into the conversation, Deion just stopped and said, "guys are we missing the whole point that a grown man just got $330 million... Are we just not going to mention that. I mean, why am I even out here right now... let's say it... $330 million and you're talking about football?"

"I'd be in my bedroom right now taking short-toss against the mattress on the wall...$330 million..."

Eisen and NFL shield protectors abrdubtly change the subject

He's right. Also the first guy I ever saw sign his name upside down from right to left

Pretty silly to compare the .001 percent of the population of baseball players and make a career decision on it

And yet, almost every baseball player is light years away from that. But that’s the greed these players will have. They all deserve 330 million now. :sigh:

I dunno. I think if you have the opportunity to play baseball you play baseball. Athletes generally fall back to football when they don't have the opportunity to play baseball.

But if the guy wants to live his dream you can't put a price tag on that.

I don’t see how that’s a fair statement to try to make.

Path to that money is much harder in baseball than it is in football. Simply choosing baseball over football just because Bryce Harper got paid a lot of money is a pretty silly concept.

No one said this, Deion didn't even say this.

All he was saying was that a peak earning for a baseball player is bigger than that of a football player.

I think the fact that the average major leaguer makes more money in their career than the average NFL player is a compelling enough reason to choose baseball over football, that is if we were talking strictly about a financial decision, which I don't think is the case with Kyler Murray. My reasoning has nothing to do with Bryce Harper's money.

Kyler Murray and his dad want the fame and acclaim that come with being a starting QB in the NFL.

The average person has no idea who the hell Bryce Harper is.

Was Murray a power hitter in college? Because only sluggers and pitchers get that kind of money.

Huge part missing of that is the thousands who spend years toiling away in minor leagues and never make the leap up and make nothing during that time. Even high draft picks.

With football he’s basically guaranteed 20-30 mil if he’s a first round pick and then either sign a big deal in 4-6 years or if he is a complete bust he could still go back to baseball and do the minor league route in his mid 20s with that contract in the bank.

There are also guys who hit 30 home runs last year who can't get more than a 1 year 3 million dollar deal.

This is dumb.
If he were a Harper-type prospect, he wouldn't be choosing football.

Well yeah, you do have to stay in the sport to make the best MLB money.

I guess if you assume the worst career result for both sports, the NFL would be the quickest money grab.

Assuming a middle-of-the-road career, MLB has a slight edge.

Assuming the 90th percentile or so of athletes in their respective sports, the MLB money clearly wins out.

Odds are against him ever making a MLB roster.

Football he's a day one starter

That’s the point tho. That’s one hell of an assumption.

You can add all the players who spend years toiling away in the minors, but do eventually make the leap. They spend a few years clinging onto a roster, get sent back down a few times, and eventually fade away without ever signing a big contract.

Is it so hard for some ppl to understand that not everyone is obsessed with money as everyone else? Hell, it's not even his place to criticize someone for doing what they want to do, IMO.

Maybe Kyler likes football better? He should be celebrated, not questioned for playing in the NFL over MLB.

YOLO.

Starting QB in the NFL and Advertising dollars will get him closer to that type of money a lot quicker than it will in baseball. He will never make that much money in football but that’s not the point. Very few baseball prospects get that type of money and there is no guarantee he will even make the big leagues. He has a greater financial guarantee playing football.
