Will be interesting to see if he had contacted investigators and they were trying to build a case against the scammer, and in particular, whether they were trying to catch the scammer in a blackmail type situation.

Is there any record of any Notre Dame teammates confirming last spring that Te'o's girlfriend was in a car wreck? Was he telling his buddies last spring that his girl was in a serious car wreck?
He obviously told his teammates that his girl died the week of the Michigan St game, because Coach Kelly gave her the game ball.
