I'm almost certain that's what it is. He found out was a hoax and didn't say anything to anyone outside of the Dome because.. what kind of idiot gets hoaxed like that and then.. now we find out who that idiot is.
And that is just the start. Based on his own interviews about the subject, he has some significant questions to answer before the "victim" story is going to be plausible.
