$28.5 million is too much salary cap for a guy that typically touches the ball 6-9 times a game.

According to the Packers reporter on ESPN this morning, at the last minute the Packers offered him the same money he took from the Raiders but they couldn't do that earlier because the Rogers contract drama dragged out too long.

Sounds like Adams was pissed off because the Pack didn't give him the contract last summer and wanted to play with his bud Carr.

Sorry if this has already been covered, but are the Packers idiots? Gave up only a 1st and 2nd? Wow. From all accounts, Raiders were going to draft a 1st round WR. So, instead of drafting an unknown in the 1st, they get the best WR in the NFL. Essentially, they only gave up a 2nd for Adams. Wow.

Also, I just heard a guy on the radio that is a huge Kentucky and Packers fan. Holy crap! Has anyone ever had a worse sports day than that guy yesterday?

I think the contract he just signed made him the highest paid QB in the NFL. You see what kinda haul some teams are willing to give up to get Watson. Imagine what the asking price would be for Rodgers. I think the only way he could get out of GB right now is retire.

As a Packers fan I don't even hate this. We now have a ton of draft capital and extra room to sign other players... AND when Davante is on the field Rodgers really had a hard time looking for anyone else. Any time he didn't play Rodgers was much better at actually going through his progressions instead of just relying on one guy....

Also don't forget, Rodgers is 10-1 in games where Davante hasn't started. Remember the Cardinals game? We looked fine. Just going to have to rely on the run game more. And with Jenkins and Bahk back we should have a great line to do that.

And the Packers would have been stupid to do it.

Glad he didn't take it.

If the Cards hadn't given Hopkins that insane contract Adams probably would have signed last year for around $20.

Hopkins and Adams are the only two WR's over $20 mil/year I gather.

Bruh what? So because the Raiders were going to draft a WR in the first that means the Packers only got a 2nd? That makes no logical sense. What people are failing to understand is.. The Packers offered Davante MORE than what he's signing with the Raiders for. He literally would not sign with the Packers or play under the Franchise tag. This had to be done. The fact that we got anything out of it and he wasn't just taking the year off until he was a FA is fortunate. He literally wasn't going to play

If they don't waste the opportunity, I don't mind it either. I would love to take the extra cap space and resign Rasul Douglas, Tonyan, and a veteran WR or two, then use the extra pick to get a guy like Olave. A more well rounded WR group would benefit GB more so than just having Adams and a bunch of scrubs.

Yep. All that money can help keep some key pieces on the team that likely would have been gone.

Hell, Z Smith might even be back now. He apparently didn't sign his contact with Baltimore after hearing Adams was gone.

Did they?

A lot easier to draft receivers than quarterbacks.

The issue is the pick can't just be a regular good rookie WR. He has to be a Chase or Jefferson out of the blocks for them. That ain't easy to land either.

I'm thinking they draft London in the first and pick up a FA WR.

What I’m saying is the Packers should have known this and gotten more.
The fact is LV upgraded bigly at GM. No way dumbass Mayock would have been able to pull this off.

There is no “essentially gave up a 2nd” since they gave up a 1st and 2nd.

You're absolutely right, and I know I said draft, but there's good receivers in free agency right now. You can get the best rookie that you can reach, and you can pick up veterans in free agency. I don't think the options at QB are as good this year.
