Per a source, the Packers were willing to pay Adams equally to what the Raiders are with this new deal but Adams preferred to play elsewhere.

Davante Adams Sparks Trade Rumors With $12 Million House Purchase in Las Vegas Published 03/06/2022

Writing was all over the wall. I just didn't think we'd swing it + tag + 30M a year.

It's been a long time since I've been this excited about the Raiders. I can’t wait for the season to start

While Aaron Rodgers was negotating his contract, he knew Davante Adams would never play for the #Packers again.

So he did all that whining about them but just wanted more money, that they would've given him anyway.

Source: The Packers were willing to pay Davante Adams as much or more than the Raiders are. It came down to him wanting out and to play with Derek Carr, his college QB.

Also per source, Aaron Rodgers knew this was coming and still signed his new Packers contract.

I knew they wanted to play together again bad but damn, actually made it happen. How frickin sick.

Hopefully they pick up where they left off.

It could work out well for both teams. You now have two first and second round picks. Gotta hit on those.

I like how it blows up the "They have to sign Adams to keep Rodgers" narrative that everyone was spouting.

March Madness has nothing to do with the NCAA Tournament this year and everything to do with the AFC West and free agency. Chiefs are going to have to make a splash sometime or another.

Packers can sign Schuster and Landry (plus maybe Beasley) combined for less money than for Adams. Then they can build depth with the draft. I think it's a win-win.

Not much of a doubt the entire thing was about money

All that hand wringing people did about the packers not doing right by him, those people must feel swindled a bit

Probably some fun bumps out there to be had from people defending Rodgers during the whole saga like the packers had wronged him during his career and Rodgers was just at his wits end trying to win a championship and the packers wouldn’t do their part
