Altuve has ruined himself trying to play hero ball. He exists only to ambush a first pitch fastball every 40 ABs. That's his only strategy at the plate. frick oppo, frick singles. Pull a fastball into LF. Works 100% of the time, 3% of the time.

I’ll give Dusty a ton of credit with how he’s managed the bullpen so far in this playoffs, but him letting Castro hit against Matzek with the tying runner on first was so bad and I’m still triggered about it.

Just accept that none of your bench options have much of a chance against that dude right now and put in the best option to have a team at bat and lay down a bunt to move Siri over. If you don’t want to bunt then put Siri in motion on the 2-0 count to Castro where you know Matzek is going to be in the zone, and maybe Castro accidentally puts the ball in play to a vacated part of the infield

That run didn’t matter because of the big swing by TDA, but that sequence frustrated the shite out of me.

Carlos looks overmatched out there. It almost looks like he has no plan or doesn’t know how he wants to attack, even against weaker stuff.

All season long he pulverized high fastballs, but for the last two series he's been watching them pound the catchers mitt. Its so damned frustrating to watch him disappear like this.

Carlos hasn’t done much ever since he did the “my time” deal in game 1 of the ALCS. I think he had that oppo double in game 4 or 5, and that’s about it. It sucks that all our best hitters right now are lefties facing great lefty pitching. That really might end up being the difference in this series.

And at best he’s just getting us a solo HR in that spot anyway. He’s much more useful getting on base and letting the guys behind him get him around IMO

Did I see that stat right now that Altuve has scored 17 of the 22 times he’s been on base in the postseason? And he’s still refusing to do anything but pop up.

Like hey mother fricker you go we go. Figure it out

They showed last night that he has reached base 20 times this postseason and scored 17 of those times. That's absurd. He needs to be focused on getting on base, and leave the donkey hacking to the backup OFs.

I know what he was thinking. His only options were Castro, Siri and Chas. He wanted Siri to run so it was down to Castro and Chas. I guarantee he wanted Castro for his veteran veteranyness. He likes Castro as a PH and didn't want to put rookie Chas in that situation.

But Castro is hopeless against lefties. He can't hit them. Never has. Would have rather take our chances with Chas.

Idk. Once Maldy was PH for, Castro had to be used anyway as he was coming in the game. Maybe he didn't want to burn the last bench bat if we had tied it but you gotta tie it first before that matters.

Those are all great points, the Castro swinging away part is what bugs me. The best thing he can do there is strikeout. Shoot wonder if there was thought of using Greinke to get a bunt down? I know that’s a borderline impossible ask for CK to go out there cold and try and get down 99 mph but moving over the runner for the top of the lineup has to be the priority

I went from saying oh frick liberals will really pound the Braves “racist” shite, to embracing it all.

Now you see how we’ve felt for the past four years. If you don’t embrace it, you will stay very angry.

Last night just felt like everyone was trying to do too much. There were no cheap homers to be had last night, but most guys didn’t adjust from a big hack approach. Just a little ball in play, middle to the other way could have changed the outcome. Too many selfish AB’s, as Smoltz has subtly pointed out numerous times.

It's almost like they forgot how well this worked in game 2.

He has made absolutely zero adjustments through the course of this entire play offs. Just continues to hack at every pitch and hopes one goes over the fence.

Braves fan here I've always felt like this series was destined for 6 or 7 so I fully expect you to be spraying all over the field. Now obviously I hope that's not the case but our offense has had its share of let downs at the plate as well.
