Basically all I'm looking for. If he can maintain control maybe he can be salvaged into a functional reliever.

It seems his stuff has evolved to where the offspeed stuff is still great but his fastball has flattened out. Now since it's a first spring start, I assume his velo was down from its usual as well. Online comments seem to indicate it's the fastball that got hit today while the other pitches induced swings and misses.

In a post game interview he said he's dropped his arm slot which helps his fastball velo but he said he doesn't know what velo was today. I watched one half inning today and he did throw a pretty good slider for a whiff buti wasn't watching close enough to see what they were hitting off him

He's trying too hard to sound mature and intelligent. It comes off as fake. I'm rooting for him but that video squares with the idea that he is his own worst enemy.

It did sound like he’s been coached better from the PR side than he obviously has from a pitching side
