There will be something, formal or informal, that stops teams from basically tacking on these dead years at the end of contracts that’s started happening this off-season. Otherwise we may see Ohtani get 16 years next winter

Would Omar Narváez be worth a look? That's a name I haven't seen mentioned in here. Looks like he had a nice 2021 and a shite 2022. He's a lefty bat. I'd think he'd be willing to take a 1 year deal and hit FA again after a better season.

At bare minimum he could pinch hit for Maldy.

I think so, he seems like a lefty poor man’s Vazquez, high context, not a ton of pop, iffier defensively. I’d be fine with them just seeing what they got with Lee and Diaz now though as well and finding cover at LF/DH

Bench warming behind Maldy is not how you position yourself for a big deal. He would be worth a look though, has a few decent seasons in the past.

Very happy for Correa to get his years and money, but bad deal for the Giants. Correa sooner rather than later will get back to being an injury prone player, and 13 years? Gah damn. I completely understand why the Giants did it though.

My prediction: 15 years, $520 million.

ETA: and 2% ownership stake in the Cubs.

Anyone else looking forward to the Dodger Melt after Padres and Giants are the only two teams in the NL West to make the post season?

There's no way Dave Roberts is going to let that happen.

But he may have to relinquish his pitcher decision making duties toward the end of the season, especially in critical games that determine their playoff chances

Not bad considering he is a two player. Essentially $275mil for pitching and $275mil for hitting nukes

I was checking the More Sports board and noticed the DAT is off the first page. And that jarred an obscure memory that some of you may also have...

Y'all remember that time the NL Home Run Champion, Kyle Schwarber, attempted to bunt with 2 strikes and 2 outs in a World Series game?

Man, what a crazy thing to remember.
