Would be a letdown from the rumors of offensive upgrades we'd been rumored in on.

I agree on both of these statements

Bob Nightengale @BNightengale The dormant trade market is finally waking up. The Houston #Astros and Arizona #Dbacks have engaged in trade talks about Dbacks outfielder Daulton Varsho. The asking price remains steep. 2:29 PM · Dec 12, 2022
With the rumors it would take one of Javier, Garcia, Urquidy, or Brown and plus Leon.

No thank you

Yeah, pass.

After not bringing JV back I don't see us making a big trade.

I’m pretty underwhelmed with what Oakland received in the Murphy deal. Feel like we could’ve matched that

Yeah, but I also don't feel we would have given up anyone as good or better than Contreras.

Confusing trade.

I’d rather have been the third team like the Brewers and gotten Contreras tbh

Not having a GM running the show is turning out to be a disaster. There is no other way to put it at this point.

Looks like we’re just going to gamble that the pitching is equally dominant as last year and has no health problems. In addition to counting on one of the young guys to step in and do exactly what Peña did.

We needed three of four between 1B, LF, CF and C. (Or DH if you pencil in Yed in LF)

We’re going to get one of the four.

And we're still stuck with Maldy.

Vasquez was the guy that made all the sense in the world. We've already traded a prospect for him, he knows the pitching staff, he's well regarded defensively and he's one of the better hitting offensive catchers in the game.

But he made clear he had no interest in another split time arrangement with a clearly inferior player in Maldy. Why we continue to hamper ourselves with myth of Maldy I have no idea but hoorah for another .150 struggle season.

That's a steal for the Twins. Astros should have been competitive with that offer.

Yeah, that deal pretty much says it all about Dusty, Maldy, and Vazquez

It was never an option

Today kinda sucked

Our last hope for a catching upgrade is a trade with the Jays?

Sad but true. And a competent GM would have offered another year or two at that value to assuage the year of playing aside Maldy.

Zunino if he's healthy enough to pass a physical.
