Sean Murphy to the Braves. Dammit. Another year with zero production from the C spot.

Bob Nightengale @BNightengale The dormant trade market is finally waking up. The Houston #Astros and Arizona #Dbacks have engaged in trade talks about Dbacks outfielder Daulton Varsho. The asking price remains steep. 2:29 PM · Dec 12, 2022

Doesn't he play some C also? Is he any good behind the plate?

More of a CFer and part time catcher. He’s really good

I'm not a scout or anything but he played catcher almost exclusively in the minors and he seemed to be good every time I saw him. Think the move to center was just because he could and they already have a good defensive catcher.

Crane pretending to be all in and going big but it's quickly apparent it's the same shite.... Pocket the WS boost don't increase the payroll and hope for the best.

If it was to happen he needs to work on his all or nothing approach at the plate.

Although new shift rules should help him out.

Healthy dose of meh. His bat kind of stinks.

I’ll be pretty underwhelmed if our remaining move is Varsho to be a backup for Chas and Maldy

Varsho would be the everyday CFer for sure I would think

A league average hitter who can catch and also play outstanding OF defense is very valuable

27 bombs is nice, but rarely walks, strikes out a lot, and doesn't make consistent hard contact.

Only 26 though, and numbers look good to great in the field.

Convince me he's enough of an upgrade over Chas to pay the price it'll take.

If this happens I assume it keeps Chas in a continued non-starter but frequent appearances role he had this year. He'd play LF when Yordan DHs or sub for him defensively. Which means no new LF/DH and probably Maldy cemented as starter with Lee/Diaz/Varsho as backups.

Would be a letdown from the rumors of offensive upgrades we'd been rumored in on.

Chas would still play 5/6 days like everyone else. Just more LF than CF.

He would be an upgrade over Yainer Diaz/Hensley/Lee/whoever else we have currently penciled in for at bats in LF and at catcher. That's who he would be taking at bats from, not Chas

How do we get Travis D'Arnaud out of Atlanta?
