Only an option if we sign Bassitt or Rodon.

If it is true the Padres offered Judge 10/$400… does that mean Correa is going to get 10/$350?

How slutty will the 2nd and 3rd place prom queen candidates go to save their popularity?

Good, or most definitely bad… it’s going to be Rodon.

The athletic posted another gem of an article collecting quotes from baseball "insiders" about the Astros strategy. It's comical how mad these Hoes are. Salty AF and in need of desperate mental help.

When I first became active in these threads after Luhnow took over, my guy was tight with Purpura, loathed all the analytical stuff, and was as old school as they come.

I told him when Luhnow was hired that I liked the move, and he was adamant that the rest of baseball hated him, and wouldn't work with him.

Luhnow is personally responsible for the Draft Lottery you witnessed last night

I think the Padres ownership should buy the Astros and move their money tree to Houston.

“Houston does not run their team with emotion. Their ownership group runs it like a business. And when I say business, I mean a cutthroat business. They feel like they can interchange people into their system and win. Quite frankly, I’m not sure that anything has shown that they can’t. This has been across the board for the last couple years where their system works. James did a really good job, obviously, but they feel like they can plug somebody else in there and win. And they might not be wrong. It stinks because that completely devalues the human element, the loyalty, and some of those things. I don’t like it. There’s a lot of baseball people that don’t like the way that they have operated. But you cannot argue with results.”

The problem with the Padres model is if/when they decide to stop spending. You are potentially stuck with a bunch of dead weight and a mediocre squad.

It's a terrible model but it's fun when ownership doesn't have a ceiling to spend.

Oh for sure. The Astros have never really had that but I’m sure it’s fun as hell to be a Mets or Padres fan right now following this.

The Padres have done a pretty tremendous job drafting and developing quality players even after their drunken spending spree started which is important

A day or two ago on Sirius XM Lead Off Spot, they were talking about the catcher's market. Most of it was devoted to the retirement of Yadi and direction the Cardinal's would take. At the end of the segment, one of the guys mentions, "and let's not forget, the Astros are also reported to be actively looking for a replacement for Maldanado."

And the only response from the other guy was, "well, I just can't forget how he armored up before an at bat in the World Series and intentionally stuck his elbow at just to get on base. It irked me then, and it still irks me to my bones."

End of discussion.

Pay no attention to the fact that I clearly (maybe not clearly because I don't remember how far back it was) that these guys were laughing non-stop at how Bryce Harper was such a fierce competitor that he'd do anything to get on base. Like he did the night before by trying to, "work the ump for a foul ball call when the ball was nowhere near his bat.".

frick them guys. Especially the Athletic. They're a bunch of soy boy pole smokers.

Now, I've got nothing against them specifically for choosing to be soy boy pole smokers - people are people and I don't care about differences. But, I don't need them trying to school me on morality, competition, or why everyone should worship the Yankees and everyone should hang any Astros fan they meet.

I haven't worked the numbers... but in my mind, Diaz's contract has a high per at-bat price tag than that given to Judge.

60% of the time it happens every time.

Kemp/Diaz in Oakland
Toro/Teoscar in Seattle
Stassi/Mayfield in Anaheim

We will be lucky to win the division.
