2022 Astros won 106 Games with 1st Basemen producing a 76 wRC+ (29th In MLB)

Worth noting both José Abreu & Verlander represented by ISE Baseball (though it sounds like JV negotiates directly with Owner Jim Crane)

Tremendous move by Astros. Resign JV & prepare for October '23

Hearing the Astros' deal with José Abreu is expected to be around $60 million.

Not worried about CF if they get everywhere else including catcher (especially) right. The young chep options in CF are just fine. Get your arse down to Sugartits and see if Dirden is that LHH platoon CF.

Peralta on 1yr deal? I don't hate it. I don't want yordon playing 100 games in LF

Clearly that's wrong because he can certainly play RF at an above average level at the least. Not that it helps us right night now though. He's big but far from slow with a strong arm.

Get another reliable OF bat for the 1B/LF/DH carousel for sure. GM Crane is on the case.

Agreed. If they sign Brantley on the cheap, don't go on a killing spree.

How cheap? I have no faith in him being healthy.

That's the big question on him. I don't think GM Crane overspends, even short term, on a big injury risk though.

I like Peralta as a cheaper option. I think they add one OF bat for sure, might not be anything splashy like this. Top 6 of this lineup looks stout

First off, Abreu for 3 years at 60 is a frickin steal, but I do think it takes JV off the table. No big deal

With JV off the table, I do think it gives us a chance to overspend on a 2 year deal with Brantley, if he'll give the team an option on the 2nd year based on performance the 1st

Yuli should be a done deal by now if the knee didn't require surgery. Especially with Hensley as a capable utility option also

I do think we're stuck with Maldonado and Lee at C, given what has and will transpire shortly

And I won't lose sleep over Chas and Jake in CF. You know who will lose sleep?

Every P facing a lineup with Brantley, Bregman, and Abreu That's probably your Top 3 QAB percentage in baseball on the same frickin team

I doubt you will see another significant move until the JV situation is clear. I'm sure crane has a handshake agreement to match his best offer. Crane probably knows it ain't happening though.

What if Big Dick Jim decides to spilt the JV money between Abreu and Contreras?
