fricking terrible. From the ace melting down after losing a no-hitter to the star slugger lollygagging in the 10th inning. Inexcusable.

Theres not often many bad things to say about Yed. But wtf are you doing bro? Of course Pena is scoring easily from 2nd on a roller into the corner. Of course the ball is coming your way. Zero situational awareness there to go in standing up.

Dumb frick throws Hader for 10 pitches in the 9th and then trots out Sousa for the 10th

This outcome was deserved.

Look, Paredes needed a mental day off.

Until the 9th inning, of course. He was still mentally incubating in the 6th inning and needed that extra bit of time to recover.

Is it just me or why do we not use Blubaugh more in leverage spots

Because we need him to pitch 3 innings once a series up or down 5 runs.

Seems apt for a team that allows meathead Jeff Bagwell to have considerable front office influence.

I will say this, they have been consistent with not throwing Hader for a second inning this year. They did it a lot last year and it led to a bad ending and an injury. So I am not too triggered by that.

The three horseshite AB in the 6th with 2nd and 3rd with none out is a different story.

What really stinks is not having De Los Santos available against that lane of righties for the 10th bc you burned him for two last night in a 5 run game.

Gotta be willing to let King get those innings with how thin you are RH relievers. Can’t just continue to burn Blubaugh and DLS for multiple days. Tough spot roster wise IG but damn

Blubaugh hasn’t pitched since Sunday

No I know, just piggybacking on your thought by venting about not having DLS who he has used in late leverage a good bit

Blubaugh is probably the guy for extra innings and just let him go multiple. It’s all very frustrating in a game that felt like an easy winner in the 5th inning.

And Sousa pitched yesterday too. Every time I get to the point where I want to give Joe some props for keeping the group together and playing well he has a game like this where every decision is confusing and has a bad result

Yep. And with a day off coming tomorrow too.

Espada is asked to do very little. And he is very bad at doing that very little.

I think Blubaugh’s role made more sense when we were starting bad Spaghetti, Burrows, Imai, and McCullers. Starting rotation has stabilized so Espada needs to adjust.

100% agreed. Especially with how dire they made it seem like they needed another RH leverage reliever. See if the one you got on the roster is the guy to fill that role.

This game and this series are just reminders to those that would be prone to delusions of grandeur.

It is always going to be about watching the other teams and hoping they lose

Man, sounds like a ton of fun

I don’t think anyone on here has argued this is a WS team. They didn’t sell and we likely have a shortened season next year so may as well root for the playoffs. Those hoping for the Astros to lose so they can be right on the internet are dorks.

Leaving work just caught the highlight of the Yordan play. That was a pretty damn good deek and no show by Gimenez

Absolutely not making an excuse for Yordan, just one of the cool intricacies about baseball and it stole a massive out

And what an absolute hero call by the ump to bang him, I reckon he got it right but that’s gotta have a like 98% called safe probability

I’ll be honest.

This late in the season, I’m ok with the big man not sliding on that play. Great deke by 2B. No need to take a chance at messing up an ankle with Yordan knocking on the MVP door.
