Hypothetical: if we were to somehow unload Bregman in a blockbuster trade (e.g., deGrom), what would happen? Marwin slides over and then what?

We'd need to find someone to play the utility role I suppose.
Or maybe replace him with Moran and continue to use Marwin like we have been.

Give Moran a chance the rest of the regular season to establish himself. If he doesn't, Marwin plays 3B in October.

He has to play everyday in the postseason. I'd rather see him at DH than Beltran 100/100 times.

You're being a flea on the nutsack but I'll entertain you. Marwin becomes the everyday 3B. That in itself creates some issues of depth. Who plays 1st when Yuli needs a day off? Call up Kemp to be an IF/OF utility guy? Marwin plays 1st when Yuli doesn't? Kemp at SS, Correa at 3rd? Call up Moran to back up 1st and 3rd?
A discussion of Marwin as an everyday guy at 1 spot really highlights how much of an asset he is with his versatility as a bench guy who you can slot in anywhere and what you lose when he's pigeonholed into 1 role.

I haven't found as much recent info on Moran as I would like. He's obviously raking in AAA and supposedly improved/shortened his swing. Also Lunhow was implying in the Spring that he would be a September callup anyway. But trying to reconcile that vs. him being all but left for dead as of last fall.
Real reason I'm asking is that I don't think that's a risk you take with a team in the position the Stros are in.

Yes. You have two of Aoki/Beltran/Marisnick in the lineup on a lot of days if you deal Bregman. That's why I don't want to trade him. Putting aside his future, Bregman is frustrating to watch but an upgrade over all three of those guys at the plate for sure.
In October if you DH Gattis you're still looking at one of Beltran/Aoki/Marisnick in the lineup every day. And Bregman is still a lot better than those three IMO

I think Moran has bought into the "fly-ball revolation", so he's developed a little more power, and he's striking out less and walking a little more:
2016: .259/.329/.368 124 K's 47 BB's in 117 games
2017: .310/.368/.556 52 K's 26 BB's in 74 games so far
Still only 24 years old.
ETA: I don't like Fangraphs being down, I'm not a fan of baseball ref.

I want no part of Kemp seeing regular time on this ball club

I believe Moran made the changes that will make him a productive MLB regular. The question is, when?

I think Devo is perfect where he is but it's still an interesting convo

Do other teams really view Bregman as a large piece of something they'd give up a bigtime arm for?

If Fangraphs makes a proper estimate, Bregman is the 38th most valuable trade piece in all of baseball.

Hes been above average this year when relatively hes still far too young to be in the league (for comparison Judge is two years older than Bregman). I get that hes one of the weaker spots this season but I really dont get everyone bailing off the Bregman train. I really think that if he wasnt batting in whats been a historically good level lineup then there would be a lot more appreciation for what hes done at the age of 23.

Let's assume April should be thrown out because WBC hangover and such. Since May 1, Bregman has a .801 OPS and a 113 wRC+. That's pretty good for a guy in his first full season. The defense has been the more disappointing part of his game.

Even without those numbers thrown out Bregman's 2017 is superior to Jose Altuves Age 23 year. Higher OBP, OPS, wRC+ and already has a higher WAR and is at the all star break.

Springer CF
Reddick LF
Altuve 2B
Correa SS

Beltran RF
Marwin 3B

Would like to see this lineup at least once a week.
