Jake can PR if need be.

Also, isn’t Smith and Rondon better matchups with Boston? I haven’t gotten a chance to look at numbers

Yeah I think they have much better splits vs RH which is obviously big with Boston

Gattis has more value than straw. Straw can only run fast, not hit pop ups with runners in 3rd.

I feel like the need for Straw is fairly minimal and he's being over hyped because of his 70 steals in the minors.

Statcast tracked Straw at 29.7 ft/s this year. Fastest in the majors was Buxton at 30.5. Jake's sprint speed is 29.4 for his career which is the exact same as Derek Fisher.

So Jake gives you Fisher level speed plus elite defense off the bench whereas Straw is likely limited strictly to pinch running like Fisher last year. shite on Gattis, I'm not knighting for the guy. But I think if you've already got an elite speed guy on the roster, it makes more sense to also carry the extra hitter in Gattis...rather than a guy who's never going to bat. To carry Jake and Straw is duplicating a roster spot and putting a limitation on situational flexibility.

I feel like having Straw is more important for the exact reason you gave.

I feel like Jake’s bat and Gattis’ bat are a wash.

If the situation arises to pinch run late in a game, Marisnick would be your obvious choice, but b/c of his defense, you’re probably gonna leave him in to play CF, and now his bat comes into play.

Straw as a pinch runner is better base stealer, and still plays a good CF if necessary.

Gattis is strictly a RH bat off the bench. And he is 0 for his last 44 ABs on the road, where we will be for 4 out of 7. You already have White and Jake, who has comparable recent numbers.

Gattis is the obvious odd man out. And as analytical as this organization has been, I’m surprised to see them go with such a “feel” move

The roster is good enough to win with it without straw.

I believe in this situation, you ride the horses that brought you here.

Gattis will either be a difference maker, or he won’t.

This series belongs to Bregman, White, springer and Altuve. Everything else is gravy.

Mr. Miss Texas has something to say about that.

Mistake leaving straw off the roster.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Miss Texas is giving Correa too much of the good stuff.

He needs to regain that focus he had in last year’s postseason.

If Fisher doesn’t pinch run for McCann in Game 5, who knows?????

And Straw is a better fielder than Fisher

Gattis getting a pinch hit is soooooo much less likely than a need for a SB or scoring a run from 2nd on a base hit

Seriously, I’m so confused watching this NL game. Why can’t they both lose??

Remember that time we gave up Josh Hader and then some for Mike Fiers and the twitching corpse of Carlos Gomez? Good times. The trophy helps to dull the pain. By dammit do I wish we had Hader in this year's pen. Just filthy.

As bad as it will look on paper in 5 years that trade (because of fiers) got us to the playoffs in 15 and without fiers during June July who knows what happens to last years team while Dallas and lance were down

Yeah, I keep telling myself the same about Fiers in that deal, but Gomez was so bad that it still stings a bit

Gomez had a good postseason in 2015, correct?

I remember him hitting homers in the WC game and in ALDS Game 3.

Time has a way of distorting my memory, though.
