Both of them are going to be big leaguers.

Wait. Today is an off day? Not yesterday when everyone pretty much sat the bench?

frick it. Just give them the rest of the week off to rest. The West is tied up in a nice bow.

Your favorite player dressed and refused to play in protest of Bregman's paternity leave not being equal to the Presslys

It's occasions like this that bind

I'm told the chemistry, comradery, and morale are at levels not seen since after the AS break in '05

For a guy that constantly references how tough players used to be back in the day, Dusty sure pampers this team. You'd think he'd be a guy that would at the bare minimum breed out some toughness in his team. Instead he's drilled in a culture of exhaustion and rest days. When we stumbled out the gate it was "well we didn't have much of a spring training to get ramped up. They're tired." Now were at a point of punting on games with split squad lineups because they want guys to have 2 days off in a row ahead of/behind a scheduled off day. Look for the regulars that did play Sunday to get their bonus day tomorrow.

I wonder if it's all Dusty. He talks about pre-scheduled rest days so it might be coming from upstairs sometimes.

ETA: Unless he's just still suffering from PTSD after destroying Kerry Wood and Mark Prior.

I think most of it is front office driven. This went on under Hinch/Luhnow as well

And over the last few seasons, Brantleys shoulder fell apart, Bregmans hamstring issue flared up, Yeds old man knees eroded, Altuves knee issue resurfaced. What did we accomplish?

All of this is frustrating for those of us who follow this team every day. In the big picture, they think they’re doing the right thing.

I know most guys didn’t play all 162 back in the day. And I don’t remember how things were when regularly scheduled doubleheaders were a common thing as recently as the early ‘80s. But it’s frustrating to look at a lineup like yesterday’s and know that your chances of winning that day took a big hit.

Again, I want to see them win another World Series. Whether all of this resting now enhances that chance, who knows?

The playoffs are basically a random champion generator, so the regular season has one prime objective: get that bye. One less series to possibly lose essentially doubles your odds.

This team has that bye all but locked up. Stay healthy and roll the dice.

That’s literally all that matters. I know some don’t agree but I don’t give two shits about HFA in the LCS or WS. Too many examples of it not meaning a damn thing.

Well getting the bye also gets home field in the LCS, but yeah we know that doesn't really matter.

The last thing we want is home field advantage in the World Series
