The logic is, if he's going to DH he needs to do it vs LHP and Hinch isn't going to do that so its a moot point.

No, thats not very logical at all. If Gattis is DHing vs lefties, that means Castro is playing catcher vs LHP. Why would you even consider doing that?
Edit: nevermind. I think I understand what you mean. But you wrote that in a very confusing way.

In hindsight: Trade for Lucroy, let Gattis serve as the backup catcher/DH vs LHP. make Kastro somebody else's problem.

The FA catcher market is shite. We've got no prospect ready to come up. I'm not sure if anyone will be available for trade during the off season but I'm afraid we're gonna be stuck with Castro with no other options available.
