DAT 8/29 Astros (McCullers/Greinke) vs. A's (Bassitt/Montas) 3:10 DH

After a couple of days in hiatus, the good ole boys are back at it tonight....trying to cut into a 4.5 game deficit to their arch nemesis: Sheriff Little and the Oakland A's.
First off, thoughts and prayers to a couple of our community leaders who are recovering from the effects of Laura. Prominetown and Ryno appear to be safe and we surely hope all is well for them.
LMJ takes the mound tonight in Game 1. Luckily the mound is located in Houston, where LMJ tends to perform much better. He will face a tough opponent in Chris Bassitt.
Bassitt hounded the Astro bats in Oakland, allowing 1 run and 3 hits in 7 innings. He certainly wasn't as friendly as this fella..
Time to get back to "normalcy", if there is such a thing these days. Let's eat!

Baton Rouge made out like a bandit. It is not lost on me how fortunate we were this go-around.

Yordan had surgery on both knees. Expected to be ready for spring training
Someone tell me why in the hell they didn’t have him get surgery last November? He clearly had knee problems then...

Yordan Alvarez had surgery on both knees on Wednesday, the Astros announced. His patella tendon was torn in his right knee and there was "routine cleanup" done in his left knee. The team expects him to be ready for play "prior to the start of spring training."

Maybe he can pull a Kirk Gibson for us in November.
Bring out the gimp!

Any boycott plans, I wonder.

I plan to boycott watching at bats by T0r0 and relief appearances by Sneed.

That's good thinking.
Toro's up, time for a piss break! Or a beer break. Or whatever break.

I hope not. I typed out this longer post about how I'm reaching a breaking point with all the politicization of everything but decided I'll leave that out of this thread.

But I’m about to explode.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to make the world's first bionic man. Yed will be that man. Better than he was before. Better...stronger...faster.

I actually kind of like the 8:10 starts. The 9 pm games were too late but 8:10 gives me time to get things done in the evening and then settle down for a game that takes me right on in to bedtime.

Crane paid the trashcan fine with the $5 million we had budgeted for Yordan's old lady knees. New Yordan had his surgery at Family Dollar.
