DAT 8/28: Astros (Brown) @ Mets (Scott) 6:10

The good guys somehow prevailed 2 games to 1 over the evil empire and now take their talents across town to deal with the woebegone Mets.
Timely hitting and outstanding pitching last night got the Astros the clincher. The bullpen was great, including AJ Blubaw, who made his triumphant return. Lameduck Joe was seen checking out the DAT and seeing our suggestions about pitching the young lad in meaningful situations.
The artist formerly known as the People's Ace and sometimes still known as the Diesel gets the ball. He has not won in his last 4 starts, has allowed a HR in 5 straight starts, and has walked at least 2 batters in 9 of his last 10 starts.
For the Mets, Scott has allowed at least 3 runs and 5 hits in 4 straight starts. I think we all know where this is headed.
Loss.

Just posted in the other thread:
We play much better against good teams than bad teams. It's so dumb
25-14 vs .500 or better
42-53 vs under .500 teams

And which teams (outside of our division) tend to make the playoffs

Lack of intensity against the bad teams. But this has been a thing for a few years now.

Burrows sputtered a bit in his third rehab outing, but his first two were excellent. He’s been a disappointment overall, but I think he can give the staff a boost if he comes back in good form.
His strikeout numbers are way up.

4.1 IP, 7 hits, 3 runs, 7 K.
If Burrows sputtered, then what did Ronnie Blanco do last night?
2.1 IP
8 hits
10 ER
3 HR

That’s not a sputter, that’s a nosedive crash.

Only Wesneski has come back from serious injury and returned to form

The offense is doing what the offense does.

Not sure where Pena was throwing that ball

No way Varsho comes through with bases loaded, 1 out. Zero chance.

That had some "left-handed Altuve" vibes to it

I hope Altuve can stay healthy and reach 3k hits. He’s at 2,492 which is 25 away from Joe Morgan which will get him in the top 100.

Need to avoid a lockout to have a real chance imo
