Ill remember what this season could have been forever, and when I think of this season, ill remember jeff Luhnow And disgusting face.
Spend the money and claim verlander off waivers. Dont leave this thing to chance. We also get to keep with Luhnow's goal of hoarding prospects

This ones on luhnow. And a lot of august losses I'm afraid. We'll struggle to go .500 this month with this lineup. 2 games on the past week we've been shutout. Bad times with literally nothing to get the teams hopes up.
Was he supposed to improve Correa and Springers injuries as well?

This team is an absolute mess right now. 3 4of our best players on the DL. Entire offense in a slump.
It's too bad we can't infuse a spark into this team. Something to get the team upbeat and excited again. Add something to the team. An addition, if you will. It's just a shame that there's no method for doing such a thing.

I think what pisses me off the most, is in his interviews he acts like he really really tried to get a deal done but he just "couldn't get it across the finish line". All he had to do was bend over just as much as any other team...mother fricker acts like we're stupid and can't tell we know exactly what he's doing.
What do we have to look forward to now? Just pray to God almighty that he puts something in the water to get everyone healthy and back to normal?
I can believe health will return for Springer and Correa....but pitching...pitching is a completely different animal.
Who knows, we may never see the Keuchel we saw at the beginning of the year again this season. And McCullers? Might be the same thing and we know even when he comes back he'll be a ticking time bomb of injury.
I would understand luhnow not making deals if Keuchel and McCullers had not been injured as often as they have, but they've been injured for the better part of 2 years and we were more than capable of making a deal to mitigate that risk of injury that has been looming over us for these last two seasons.

Ehh, injuries are apart of a long season. Hopefully it's position players not pitchers. We got both. I just don't get hunches strategy. I get the pitching has been crap. I get the bull pen has been crap. But put a line up in and stick with it. Stop shuffling these guys around. Put them in a position and leave them there.

He knew the status of our injuries st the deadline and it didn't seem to factor in his approach, based on everything that's been said or written. What players say to media is usually the tip of the iceberg about how they really feel. so the keuchel comments are troubling. This team is deflated and he didn't do shite to pick them up. It's gonna take springer coming back to get the mojo moving in the right direction.

Nola needs to televise the Astros games.
Make it so.

:he has a point:
We need a starter, or DK and LMJ can pitch in the postseason.

Not when it comes to Keuchel and McCullers. I would normally agree if it wasn't two guys who have been injured most of the last two seasons. McCullers especially may never ever pitch 200 innings in a season in his entire career at this rate.

From Rosenthal
quote:
The Astros entered Monday thinking they were going to trade for three relievers:
Francisco Liriano, Zach Britton and a third, unidentified high-end type whose addition would have surprised the industry, according to major-league sources.
The Astros landed only Liriano, who has yet to pitch in relief this season, but had a 5.88 ERA in 18 starts for the Blue Jays.
“We had a couple of other deals on the plate,” Astros owner Jim Crane told ESPN 97.5 Radio in Houston. “They were agreed on in principle. Then medicals were exchanged and they got vetoed at the top.”
Crane declined to specify which players the Astros were trying to acquire, but sources provided further details.
The mystery reliever stayed put when his team’s owner decided against trading him, while the Britton talks broke down - as negotiations with the Orioles sometimes do - when the O’s raised concerns about the medical condition of at least one player coming back to them.
quote:
The Astros’ failures at the deadline were not for lack of effort. But they made six to seven prospects off-limits in discussions for Britton and Padres left-hander Brad Hand, sources said. They perhaps were too confident of completing a trade with the Orioles, a team that executives frequently describe as difficult to deal with. And they were unable to implement contingencies - unlike the Dodgers, who also pursued Britton.
The Dodgers, at one point Monday, also felt they were progressing toward a deal for Britton, sources said. But about one hour before the deadline, the Orioles pulled back and informed the Dodgers that they would not trade their reliever, a two-time All-Star.
quote:
The Astros made a late run at Darvish and in their estimation offered a stronger package than the Dodgers, sources said. The Rangers held a decidedly different opinion, viewing the Astros’ offers for Darvish, both early and late, as non-competitive – and the Rangers almost certainly preferred to trade their ace to any club but their in-state and AL West rival, anyway.
quote:
The Orioles went dark on both the Astros and Dodgers for several hours, sources said; the breakdown with the Astros occurred while the teams were in the medical review stage.
quote:
The Orioles believed that one of the Astros’ prospects had a legitimate medical problem and thought another might be questionable.
The Astros considered their players healthy, and concluded that Angelos and/or Duquette simply got cold feet – a belief that was reinforced to them when the Orioles passed on proposed substitutes for the players at the center of the disagreement

So I'm gonna pin some responsibility back on Luhnow. He tried and he aimed big. But he waited to the last minute, hoarded his prospects and had no backup plan. I mean 6 to 7 untouchables? Come on. You've got to be willing to part with something of value.
Posted on 8/2/17 at 10:53 pm to Lsuhoohoo
I wonder who the 3rd mystery guy was?
Posted on 8/2/17 at 10:57 pm to texastiger38
High end reliever, surprising trade, non competitive team.
Osuna from the Jays

Raisel Iglesias Osuna or Brach was coming with Britton. Don't matta now though
Posted on 8/2/17 at 11:07 pm to ShaneTheLegLechler
If all of this is true I think they're gonna be real aggressive when it comes to waiver moves. Those won't come close to the impact these moves would have though obviously

Keuchel called out the front office in an interview for not making any big moves at the deadline
