In from Destin. I watched the game from my room last night and it was awesome.
ETA: Let’s get Verlander. Do whatever it takes. He will make the entire pitching staff better.

Verlander, Cease, Robert, Bellinger.
And somehow trade away Maldy and Dusty.
Or more likely just Graveman.

Is Verlander a real possibility? I’d love to bring him back, but that contract makes it seem impossible.

Who could the Astros possibly give up in a trade? Farm system is ranked worst in MLBs.

Mets already pay like 40 guys that are not even on their roster, what’s one more.

If Gilbert gets in done then do it. I wouldn't really want to move on from Brown or Yainer though

Get Gordon Dana.
Not sure our Texas baws will understand.

I just listened to a replay of the first half hour of Power Alley on MLB Radio. They are a good microcosm of the media, trying so hard to get JV anywhere but Houston.

There is some serious butthurt that this is where he wants to be over LA or NY. I would be perfectly fine with Rodriguez as well but it sounds like that’s who the Dodgers have honed in on

Does Whitley still have any trade value

He's 26 years old in his 7th year of professional baseball with a total of 267 innings and a 5.09 ERA.
He's closer to being flat out released than to having any trade value.

There's an interesting difference between the Astros and anyone else calling about Verlander. The other teams will pivot to other starting pitchers because they feel they need them now. I think Crane just wants JV so they can wait it out and live with not getting another starter.
Meanwhile, Dana is still calling others for relievers and a left-handed bat.

You no doubt have too much value in getting JV back
I surely hope our braintrust is not in line with you

I want no part of giving up Gilbert for him

Who? I genuinely don't know who's fits the bill now that the Cubs are pretender contenders. A few months back I threw together a list of potentials but I've purged it since then
