Jack must not be aware that Walker and Diaz need about 40 points to catch Dubon in OPS

You know, our $20 M 1B and power hitting C producing less than our utility bench guy

Not to be confused with any of our Sugarland guys. These are starters.

It must be our only 800+ OPS leadoff, Trammell pushing that run total up on the free burger

Hoohoo beat me!

It's definitely a "name" that Crane would be okay with going over tax for. Watched a bit of him last night, he was gross but gave up a grand slam to Vientos after one too many fastballs.

Think it would cost someone like Spaghetti at least. Honestly, this might be a fit for Yainer to move. Padres are only willing to sell if they could also get pieces to help this year.

But I can't reiterate enough how dumb adding pitching would be if you don't get at least one bat.

Framber and Brown are a fine 1-2. We need middle and back end rotation thats not AAA roster filler. Spaghetti, Garcia, Javi all fill that need...assuming they return effectively. Our offense right now is complete dog arse. I'd rather not burn up what little trade bullets we have for luxury of a front line starter.

4.5 years of Spaghetti for a half season of Cease? That's gonna be no for me, dawg.

Agreed!

Maybe I'm off on it costing him, but based on the reports of Padres looking to move off rentals while competing that's the first name to jump to mind.

I think you are right on it. They’d want cheap controllable pitching that can help this year. Cease is great and you’d have the best top 3 in baseball arguably, but it’s much more of a luxury than the other glaring needs

They can get the starter they need with a less sexy move that doesn’t cost much

What if they threw in a bona fide prospect or MLB ready player in a swap for Framber

LOL

Whitley for Realmuto?

Which is nice. But as the Tigers series last year showed us, pitching can be great but doesnt matter if you can't score.

The biggest worry about this team in a playoff setting should be the kind of stuff we see too often from the offense. Stranding runners. Stranding a lead off double, not getting the contact to get a runner home from 3rd. A double play after putting the first 2 guys on.

That's the kind of stuff to doom you in a playoff series.

Hadn't even kept up with Cease numbers but hes kind of sucked this year. 3-10 4.79 era. Of course he has the potential to not suck and I'll never doubt our pitching lab.

He’s had about as bad of batted ball/fly ball luck as you can possibly have. I don’t doubt his ability just not sure it’s what they should the resources on

Cease... eh... not for what the Padres would certainly ask.

Well then by all means let's park him in the "HR in 1/30" capital of the world.

Idk i trust he'd probably be pretty good for us but just feels like an expensive luxury that isn't the biggest need.

So, instead of 1-run loss, 1-run loss, bitch slapped, bitch slapped, bitch slapped...

we would get...

1-run loss, 1-run loss, 1-run loss, bitch slapped, bitch slapped

Somehow still an upgrade from McCuck

Renting Cease sends us over the luxury tax. Insane that Crane would do this for a 3 month rental but not for guys long term

Get Merrill Kelly for cheaper if you want to salvage a starter.

I think we should not be shocked if Dana is looking to trade Yainer.
